I have a DSL AT&T 2wire wireless router and everything was working fine since I've had it for 2years.

Then, the other day I installed Windows 7 and everything was working fine until today. Everything I reboot my computer and once I open up my IE or browers it would display "Broadband link unavailable" and a button to "REBOOT"

but everytime I click "REBOOT" it would "RESTART" the modem/router and everything would work fine.

If I restart my computer again .... same thing would happen.

anybody else have this prob. before?

    thanks,

Our 2Wire router started acting crazy on us....the connection would come and go, then it went completely out. We called and AT&T sent another router called Netopia, it still uses the 2 wire program on the computer but the connection is much better.

Juts out of curiosity, would the wireless signal go from acquiring to connected to acquiring to connected to acquiring... in a loop that would change every few seconds?

It is weird because it only does that on my windows machines, not the macs or linux machines and not the wii connection.

Edit: I have Uverse by the way...

Have you checked if there are new downloadable firmware for the 2-wire? It could very well be that there's something for it to keep its connection to Windows 7 OS.

DSL sucks. If you can you should get UVerse.

While I agree with you, I just have a nitpicky point to make... U-Verse is VDSL, whereas AT&T's "DSL" is specifically ADSL. Both are DSL-type connections.

EDIT: Sorry, I must have read incorrectly and thought you had the U-Verse wireless gateway, but it must seem similar. Tried Googlin' it?

I had that problem a few times, and it just timed itself out. Another time, I went and reset everything to default in the 2Wire configuration utility and it did the trick without waiting it out.

Log in to the 2wire console. Look at the sticker on your wireless gateway, and you should have all the info in there to log in. Your password is unique to the router, so if you have access to read it, you have access to get into it (that's what she said).

Once you're in the console you can reset the wireless or hard-wired stuff or settings or all when you just click one button.

I have U-Verse, by the way, and I have the wireless gateway type of 2Wire.

I believe the default IP to get into AT&T DSLs is 192.168.1.254. I think you can type homeportal on your browser to access it as well. Try to rerun the connection setup.

I still think there might be new firmware though.

Ok, I just got in the 2WIRE and when I click for upgrade it says "there's none" I'm assuming that's where the new firmware would be?

I noticed that the INTERNET light on the 2WIRE is flashing ... i remember it should be solid. Is just when I do the reboot on the IE screen, then everything will work fine. Seems like something is not stable.
