Does anyone know how long it takes to drive from Houston to Las Vegas? There are 2 drivers so we can pretty much go with very minimal stops. Whats the best route there
Jesus man, are you sure that with gas prices you wouldn't be better off flying? I've heard the best way is to drive up north to the panhandle, through Amarillo, then head west.
Yeah...gas prices wont help but the others decided to drive a while back saying thats its more "fun" so driving it is. Gotta rent a fuel efficient car.
Easier to drive to the airport and fly...cheaper too if you include gas/time/food. I think it is about 24 hours total. DD
I-10 West, all the way to Phoenix, then north on 93. With minimal stops. depending on how much lead is in your right foot, it will take you about 20 hours driving time. It's about 11 hours from Houston to El Paso.
That's a crazy drive. If you mostly roll I-10, it's horrendous between SA and El Paso. Up & over is a little better but not much. You're looking at minimum $200 in gas and around 20 hours of driving each direction. I'd fly. Evan
I drove it from OKC and it took me 16 hours. From Houston, I guess you could tack on another 6-7 hours.
dude! why not fly southwest? where are you guys staying? you better not stay a crap place if you are driving so far to get there.
Having made this drive three times last year moving from League City to Henderson, I can, without a doubt, tell you to take the Dallas/Amarillo/Albuquerque/Kingman route. It is by far more scenic than the southern I-10 route (with the exception of a very small portion of I-10 in southeast Arizona in an area called Texas Canyon, which has some really unique rock formations). If you drive non-stop with minimal bathroom and food breaks, you should be able to do it in about 24 hours. I made all three trips with a moving truck that had a speed governor so I couldn't go faster than 70 mph. Plus, right now, Arizona and most of the Southwest US is seeing temperatures approaching triple digits, so I would definitely considering taking the higher elevation route (I-40). Good luck!!!
road trips are cool if you can take your time and check **** out along the way. if you guys are just hauling ass up there by car to save a little money before you blow a lot of money, well, seems kinda dumb to me.
Well, without shopping around and just checking Travelocity the cheapest tickets I saw were $192 per person. Multiply that by 4 people...that maybe more than gas. Plus the other travelers want to see crap along the way..out the window at 80 + MPH
I was looking at the Aladin but we werent really going for the casinos. We were going to take the helicopter tour there to the Grand Canyon, go to Hoover Dam, etc.....maybe check out some shows while we are there.
Driving probably sounds like a great idea before you go. Road trip baby! The first part of the drive there won't be too bad. The second half will really start to suck. Then you'll get there and forget about the drive and have several days of partying. Get nice and wore out. Then you have 20 hours of misery all the way back. **** that yo. Fly.
Aladin is now planet hollywood. PS- book your hotels via their own website, they have some specials. how old (just me an age range) of your group? i'll recommend you a place. also what days are you staying?
its gotta be a good 24 hours. Maybe you can shave off 30-45 or so minutes by pissing in a gatorade bottle.
Houston to LA took me a little over a days worth of driving ~28 hours. It takes 3-4 hours from LA to Vegas, so that's your ballpark. We took the I-10. It's a very long stretch of scenery, but there isn't that many instant detours to stop. Make sure to check your engines. It gets real hot and your AC will be on all day.
