Any CF DIY'ers have an easy solution to this problem? It seems too minor to have to call a plumber over. I've tried googling it and all the solutions say they are easy and only take a few minutes....but then proceed to list 20 different steps with a bunch of part names that have no meaning to me.
what type of faucet? Is it a single handle? If so, it's likely the cartridge inside. It is easy to take out and replace.
If you don't want to hire a plumber, I know what will definitely work: locate the main water line to your house, and close that valve.
I suggest taking a picture of your faucet and heading over to Home Depot. They should be able to help you out.

Didn't watch the video, but you have to change the washers on the stem AND change the seats. The seats get nicked over time and even new washers won't seal right. It takes a seat wrench to pull them out, they are about $2.99
If it's over 10+yrs I'd replace it with quarter turn brass ceramic cartridge valves with lever handles. Those will stop people from over-tightening them that leads to leaks.
I replaced my cartridge just last week - All I needed was the new cartridge, a phillips and a flathead screwdriver, and a pipe wrench. Its not that difficult, and no longer leaks. Just go by the directions one-by-one and it will seem less overwhelming.
LOL, thanks for the encouragement. Are these cartridges pretty universal? I'm not sure what kind of faucet I have. I don't see the name of it anywhere. It appears that Royal is the name of the tub, not the faucet.
You can download a new bathtub faucet... Cut me some slack, they gave you the right answer already...
It should have the name on the faucet handle or on the part that covers where the handle meets the tub. Your handle may work somewhat different than this one - but watch this video anyway and it will give you an idea. You'll have to turn the water off to your tub or to the house to do this. Really, if I can do this, you can. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/O_ah4CMZgjE?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> good luck
