    Just asking, because espn.com's got a poll up right now asking for the 'best NBA trading deadline deal in the last 15 years', and ******* if the Drexler trade's not on there.

    Here are their (stupid homonyms) suggestions:

    * '99 Nets- Bucks- T-wolves (Marbury-Cassell-Brandon)

    * '96 Heat-Warriors (Hardaway, Gatling - Willis, Coles)

    * '94 Hawks-Clippers (Manning- Wilkins)

    * '88 Suns- Cavs (Kevin Johnson- Nance)

    Say what you want about those four trades, not a one of them produced an NBA title.

    The Drexler acquisition did, and even if you leave THAT aside, it was STILL bigger than those four trades for the intangible reasons of Clyde coming home and reuniting with Hakeem.

    ESPN, **** you.

    Not sure about that, but I know it was on Valentine's Day.

    Valentine's Day in 1995 was on a Tuesday. The current rules have the trade deadline on a specific Thursday. If the deadline were on a Thursday in 1995 then it was either 2 or 9 days before the actual deadline.

    ESPN also has an article by Peter May that talks about the lone trade-deadline trade last year, which also occured on Feb 14. In it, he has a quote where Pat Williams of Orlando says the last last-second trade of consequence he could think of was in 1983. He says you couldn't find too many that led to a championship or even a significant run. Uhh, how about in '95?

    The trade deadline in 1995 was 2/23,
    and the Drexler deal went down a full nine days before, on Valentine's Day.
