I think Barkley accused Clyde of not playing hard enough because he already won a championship and he's close to retirement. And he also had a problem with mario Elie, and accused both of them that they are only playing their contract, and they didn't care if they lost. That's remembering it from the top of my head, I'm not 100% sure.
I found these old articles, maybe they can help a little bit. http://ww1.sportsline.com/b/page/pressbox/archive/nov97/blineburyf111297.htm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.highbeam.com/library/doc0.asp?DOCID=1G1:83892155&refid=ip_almanac_hf http://www.s-t.com/daily/11-97/11-10-97/d19sp163.htm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/inside_game/magazine/basketball/nba/news/1999/04/13/nba0419/
I'm glad people still make thread about when the Rockets were badass. My friends out of jail and here. Damn theres good stories
Mario Elie was complaining all year and seemed to be tanking in 1998 because the Rockets didn't give him a new deal. And I remember Drexler not complaining so much, but talking about how other teams were interested in him and he would consider their offers even though he was still playing for the Rockets. I can't remember if Drexler was tanking though. I think he might have had a good season, I'm not sure. I do know that Mario and Clyde did suddenly turn it on in the playoffs, but I don't know about blaming them for that season. The injuries were so brutal that we were a .500 team no matter.
