(I would like to change the thread title to "Drew supposedly requested to be traded to Chicago", because there has not been a trade yet, but I do not know how to change it)

The rumor that there were talks between Houston and Chicago is not new, but I did not know that the original request supposedly came from Bryce himself.

    Trade rumors have
    Bryce Drew headed
    to the Bulls

Bryce Drew could be coming home - or at least as close to home
as it gets in the NBA.

The Chicago Bulls are working on a trade with the Houston
Rockets to acquire the former Valparaiso University and
Valparaiso High School star, The Chicago Tribune reported in its
    Thursday editions.

"He specifically requested a trade to Chicago," a source close to
the situation told the Post-Tribune on Thursday.

Drew has wanted to get a deal done before training camp, which
opens in early October, but an illness to Houston vice president of
basketball operations Carroll Dawson has prevented anything
from getting done, the source said.

Dawson has been receiving treatment for kidney stones during the
last several weeks, including two hospital stays, but it has not
affected his job, a Rockets spokesman said.

"It's been a long, arduous process, but he's still been working,"
Houston media services manager Tim Frank said. "He was with
    us at an event today."

Drew, the Rockets' first-round draft pick in 1998, has expressed
an interest in playing in Chicago in the past. He was more
    non-committal on Thursday.

"I don't really know too much about it," Drew said. "I know my
agent's talking to people. About what or with who, I don't know."

Drew's agent, Mark Bartelstein, did not return a phone call
    seeking comment.

Drew averaged 5.8 points and 2.3 assists in 18.0 minutes per
game last season, his first full NBA season after a
lockout-shortened 1998-99. He started five of the 72 games in
which he played, playing well during a stretch as a starter when
Steve Francis was injured. With the Rockets' crowded backcourt
that includes point guard Francis, who shared Rookie of the Year
honors with the Bulls' Elton Brand last season, and shooting guard
Cuttino Mobley, who the Rockets re-signed to a multiyear deal in
August, minutes again could be scarce. Moochie Norris also
figures into the mix at point guard.

The Bulls could offer Drew, in the last year of his contract, the
opportunity to start at point guard. When asked about the
prospect of starting, Drew said, "I'm just looking forward to
playing. After ankle surgery, I'm just happy to be playing."

Drew sat out the final eight games last season, the final five after
undergoing surgery in April to remove a bone chip from his right
ankle. He returned to the court in June.

"It feels good. It's the best it's felt since high school," said Drew,
who also has been working to strengthen his back after the layoff.
"It's a lot tighter in there than it's been.

"I'm doing stuff just basically to get the mobility back. I swam
some in the pool, I've been shooting and stuff. It does feel good.
I'm happy I got it done when I did."

Earlier this week, an Internet report had Drew getting shipped to
the Golden State Warriors, VU assistant coach and Bryce's
    brother Scott Drew said.

"I try not to worry about it," Bryce Drew said of the trade rumors.
"I'm just trying to get into the best possible shape to perform for
    whoever I play for.

"When it's time to go to Houston, I'll go to Houston. When it's
time to go somewhere else, I'll go somewhere else. I'm just
working out twice a day to get ready for wherever I go."

LoL....oilypee's rumors make it into a Northwest Indiana paper. Incredible. I wonder what would've happened if eyepop had also mentioned if the GS trade didn't happen, we'd trade Drew for Fizer? More of a tribute of how much of an impact cc.net make's on everyone.
