No wonder he wants to leave. Kevin Martin had a similiar problem with the Kings's own annoucer who had his his own radio show to air his agenda.

If Carmelo leaves, who will be Drew Litton's target for the Nuggest lottery season? The Nuggets' failed playoffs season won't be Melo's fault anymore.

Doesn't stuff like this from someone local raise any red flags about the guy?

Or is everyone too excited about the possibility to consider whether it would truly be a step forward for the Rockets?

Those are from 2 years ago, and as several members of this forum have said these days, he's hame has matured the last 2 years. The Olympics and team USA in general helped him a lot to be a more disciplined-competitive player.

Don't forget the displeasure coming out of Orlando about Tmac, at the time we traded for him. We couldn't understand at the time but afterward, the GM seemed quite vindicated and on-track in his criticisms.

Blinded by talent is what happens.

    Elite player is non-elite.

There were none of these kinds of rumblings when we traded for Kevin Martin. Good sign. He is still a fan favorite in cowtown.

Fair enough, maybe it has, but maybe it hasn't.

The Rockets have built a team of great character, guys who are good quality individuals, and also good quality basketball players.

Guys who trust each other on the floor, play together and are unselfish....

Of course you want to get a superstar if you can, but you need to think LONG and hard about whether Melo is that guy, or whether he is just someone that gets his own, but doesn't actually make the TEAM better.

You know Melo wants the $$$$, can't blame him for that, but is he willing to work hard for that max contract?

I would not want Rudy Gay or Joe Johnson on their deals either.....if you are tying up a good portion of the salary cap in one player, they better be a Superstar all over the court and off of it.

I don't believe Melo is a Superstar on or off the court, so to me, not worth the $$$$.....

True, the Rockets do a good amount of checking up on players they draft, they should do even more of it with players they chase in trade.

If we have give up Brooks or Martin, we mustn't trade Anthony, coz we don't want to give up our future.
Yao is the player that Rockets need to promot ourselves into China marketing;maybe all the Chinese market which is the most fast growing area.

Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen were the favorite targets of their local media also. Kobe is targeted as a selfish player with a big ego that couldn't share the ball with Shaq.

If Melo actually lived up to Litton's standards, he'd already have championship rings and would have zero chance of being traded right now.

Heh, I missed this post. Or rather I read over it too quickly and saw "Ron Artest" instead of Martin. Weird. Didn't know about this. What was the general criticism from the announcer?

"Oh, he's nasty," marvels the Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant, a friend who says Carmelo Anthony's genial off-court disposition conceals his competitiveness. "Put him on that basketball court, and that's a different 'Melo. Some other players, you bang them and they shy away. He loves contact. He is a throwback, man."

"At small forward, there isn't a player in the NBA who scores from as many spots," the Lakers' Pau Gasol says.

Here's the scary part: "I don't think 'Melo is anywhere near his ceiling," ESPN analyst Avery Johnson says.

"He is more focused off the court, which has helped him on the court," manager Robert "Bay" Frazier says.

KG, PP, and RA, were not good enough to lead any team on their own. They needed each other to win.

Kobe ran Shaq out of town, at that time he was a selfish ball hog and not as good as he thought he was, it took them years to build a team around him again and one stupid lucky trade for Gasol.

Kobe learned a very humbling experience during those down years (all because he wanted Shaq gone) and became a better player because of it.
