What i dont understand is why everyone thinks so highly of barry, ive seen him play allot since i studied in seattle, but really? you have to admit, he is just a good player, in fact he is a little better than common, but not to deserve the word great. Besides there are better pointgards available than him. Maybe the rockets would make a mistake if they even sign barry after all he is 32 (not much upside there) and not to talk about injuries.

I think alot of people are hooked on Barry because he almost seems to be the opposite of what Francis has been. He's a consistent spot up shooter, unselfish and intelligent on the court. He doesn't think twice about sacrificing his own game to better the team. I don't really have a favorite in the PG FA's. I'd be happy looking for a backup big man and seeing how everyone faired as is.... but if I had to chose a PG I think, right now at least, I'm leaning towards Barry also. At least out of the main two in discussion being Fisher and Barry.

What about Carlos Arroyo, since i am from Puerto Rico originally and im here in seattle now (my sister lives in houston, ive been a rockets fan ever since 94) ive seen Arroyo play way long before he joined the NBA and been following his progress, i think he is a good player that has a good upside, and take for example what he did in Utah, he played more minutes and i think he showed allot of people that he has game. nice jumper also...

The Rockets are not looking for a "great player". They are wanting a "great fit". Alot of fans seem to think Barry would be a great fit for Rockets. I agree...

While there may be better PGs out there, none of them fits the Rockets the way Barry does. And no one's saying he should be a great player either. I mean, we're talking about 4 years at MLE, which is hardly the kind of money you give a "great player".

And Barry in Seattle is nothing like he'll be in Houston. With Yao/T-Mac, the guy's going to be wide open so many times it's not even funny. If he comes close to shooting 45% from behind the arc like last year, our offense could literally be unstoppable.

Barry is one of those truly great role players that is essential to a championship type team. I rate him up there with the likes of Elie, Horry etc.

I really hope we get him and if you have been watching the FA market this year, 4 year 24 mm is more than fair.

yea i don't think anyone here thinks he's a "great" player, they're probably just excited abou the type of player he is and what he could bring to the table if he joined us. just think about how good of a shooter he is and how wide open he'd be because of all the double teams on yao and tmac.

I don't see anyone on this board saying that Barry is some kind of great, hall of fame point guard who will put us over the top.

Barry's a good player and the best fit available for us.

I didn't see one post saying that Brent Barry was a great player. Why would you start a thread claiming people said Brent Barry was great I will never know. People think he's a great fit, but I have not seen one post claiming Brent Barry was this great player.

I hate that word "upside". All it means is potental. All that potental means is "hasn't done crap". Hell... I have upside.

Brent Barry is this years Piatkowski. I'm not hating on him, Barry's OK ... I'm just remembering how last year everyone thought that Pike was gonna save us.

"Ohhhh, he nails the three's."

If what they say is true ... & they give Barry that contract, they're nuts. If we're gonna spend that kinda bread, get a true point. A proven point.

I don't know, dude. Sorry, I'm not pretending to be a GM here. There are enough Nerds here to figger out all of the moola questions.

I've said all along that I'd rather have Fisher.

Get a trade together, or dole out that moola like Taco Bell dishes out them beans!

    Just get a true point.

I just don't get this... everyone says a true PG and alot of people point at Fisher. Fisher, when he was getting starters minutes, didn't do much more than Lue did as a starter last year. The only real edge is that he got more steals. Now, I haven't seen Lue play that much. Is he not a spot up shooter like we would need? Cuz if thats not the case I don't see why Lue can't do what Fisher would do. I understand we need another PG reguardless because Jackson and Wilks don't make for alot of good depth ( I don't count Gaines as a PG ) but I don't see why someone like Fisher should get paid more and be heralded as the starter if he's not going to do much more than the guy we've already got.

You do indeed have the upside to eventually spell potential correctly. Eventually.

I would love to get Arroyo but lets be real, what are the odds? And Arroyo or not I would love to have Barry on the team.

If we court Arroyo and if he aggrees to sign then Utah just matches. What do we have that we would be willing to give up that Utah would take for Arroyo anyway?

Was there a good reason to start another thread for this? Just discuss Brent Barry in any of the other Brent Barry threads.

    Right here ^^^^

    Exactly!

We are after a soild, team oriented PG with good shooting and passing skills. Not "Magic Johnson."

Arroyo is already signed with the Jazz. Barry? Not sure. Only a few more left: Jones, Fish, and Snow.
