The article was summarizing an agent's dealing with the Jazz.

http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,405020445,00.html

In fact, he suggests Russell was swept away by the Jazz in a callous "don't-let-the-door-hit-you-on-the-way-out" manner.
"Not so much as a phone call, a letter — nothing," Manley said. "And certainly not the offer which he was promised all year. This is really pretty sad that the Jazz treated Bryon like that.
"If you work at 7-Eleven nine years, you get more than Bryon Russell got. At least you'd get a sandwich or something."
Manley also said he has tried to facilitate a sign-and-trade deal between the Jazz and an unidentified Eastern Conference team but that Utah wasn't interested in the proposed swap.
The Jazz also have spurned sign-and-trade proposals that would have sent Marshall to Toronto for center Hakeem Olajuwon and a first-round draft choice, and another that would have brought former University of Utah star Keith Van Horn of New Jersey to Utah for both Marshall and Russell.
Now, it seems possible both Marshall and Russell may sign elsewhere without the Jazz getting anything in return.

This quote should be used over and over to make Dwight Manley look like the ass he is. You could work nine years at 7-Eleven and throw in any "sandwich" going away gift and it wouldn't add up to what Russell got in 9 days while playing in the NBA.

On one hand I am glad to get the draft pick (Nachbar - right?). And I guess onec he is gone, I sort of don't care what he does. But I sure wish Olajuwon had retired a Rocket year before last, as he should have.

I will always be a fan of the Big Fella. But Utah. I think I am going to be sick.

No, it couldn't have. :(

Thank goodness that trade didn't happen. I would've pulled a Billy Cole.

It's utterly sad to see how the Hakeem Olajuwon story is coming to an end. In the mid 90's, this was a guy that exemplified the perfect basketball story; came to Houston for college, stayed in Houston to play pro, won a couple of titles. Now look at him, he is the subject of trade rumors and basically worthless in terms of a player. Brings a tear to my eye.

No doubt! I couldn't believe he had the audacity to make such an idiotic statement.

I dont think I could be more sick than I was at moment I looked and saw the title of that thread.

I would have rather heard Dream was a communist :D Than to see him rubbing shoulders with the 2 biggest jerks and underachcivers in NBA history!

Man the thought of that brings a tear to my eye, WHY DREAM WHY!!!!!!!!!

Well, one thing, Hakeem can't control the trade, unless there is a no-trade clause in his contract.

But if he does go to the Jazz, that would just erase the memories of him tearing up the Jazz and giving us the reason of why we hate the Jazz....it would suck to see him take over Osterfag's position....

I think Dream would look good in a Jazz uni. He can go hunting and fishing with Karl Malone after games and learn about how AIDS can go through the air and infect people.

Karl made noises about that back when Magic was contemplating coming out of retirement. (the year he played the whole preseason and then quit, as oppoesed to 96 where he actually came back)

Karl said he was afraid he'd get infected w/ AIDS playing against Magic.
