Marc Berman from Fox26 had a short piece with Hakeem Olajuwon in the Sports segment tonight. I didn't see the whole thing, but I think I caught most of it... Dream looked good (physically speaking), he was showing Okafor and Nnadi (sp?) some moves. In the highlight they had, Okafor was trying to back Dream down and score on him with a nice move, only to get stuffed by Dream (you could see the, "Damn, he still has it!" look on Okafor's face after getting blocked). Then, they showed Dream making a smooth-as-ever move on Omeka and getting a layup. Okafor said that it was hard mimicking him, and everytime he tried to move his feet like Dream, he stumbled. I have to say, I am a big fan of Omeka Okafor, wish him the best. Not only a good kid -- and a Houstonian -- but a very good player as well. Anyways, Berman said he will have another segment with Dream tomorrow night, so tune in if you want (the sports segment is usually around 9:45pm).
cool,.. I remember meeting Dream in person at the airport with no one around, and when I got his autograpgh ...he told me "thank-you"...I guess because I answered his question about a late, flight on KLM airlines... ...Of course I was thinking I could take him and go for the throat as well...
Could you tell where they were in the clip? Last summer they went to Lifetime Fitness in Sugarland every morning; I might drop by early once to catch a glimpse of their training.
Of course. They were at The U! The University of Houston.....to be more specific, at Hoffienz Pavillion. Don't count on dropping by for a glimpse. You won't be allowed in.
we definetely need to get Hakeem back in the fold in some way. Assistant coach or something, i'm not sure exactly what kind of role. But it would be huge for the franchise, and i'm sure massively inpirational to the players.
I would love Dream to be part of the Rockets coaching staff but I don't think I've ever heard anything from him that showed a desire to coach
Maybe the Rockets can finally work on some resolution (sculpture?) to find a way to honor Dream out front of Toyota Center, the house that he built.
tiger, please don't post stuff like this! It makes me suggest absurd ideas, like why don't we sign Dream as a player/assistant coach to back up Yao for 10 minutes a game. Not that he would want to, but still, it's Hakeem. See what you made me do??
Les Alexander wanted to put up Hakeems sculpture infront of the Toyota Center, But The Dream refused to accept simply because it is against his religion.
They were talking about this a while ago. Due to Dream's Islamic faith, he is prohibited from making any form of sculpture or statue of himself. An idea was proposed to make an "abstract" piece of art that would symbolize Dream but I dont know how symbolic that could be.
^^^there needs to be something done, he was the greatest Rocket ever and he was the team for 2 decades.
Hopefully he decides when he's done studying in Africa he'll come back to UH and help out with the program. The Rockets will be fine without him. Yao is coming into his own. We all saw that last year. UH has a chance to be special again with Penders at the helm.
He has been studying and primarily living in Jordan. Man some of the stuff that gets posted on this board is way off. Check your facts before you post.
