Thats it. If Vecseys article about Dream killing the sign and trade with Toronto true then it is starting to become apperant that Dream is sabotaging our rebuilding plans with his selfishnes. Les attempted to trade to free up cap room to offer Dream more money. Les offered Dream a third year. Les and CD have done everything that they can trying to make Dream happy and Dream is still not happy. The Rockets have offered all that they can and when that was not enough the agreed to a sign and trade that would make Dream more money. what does Dream do? He kills the trade! What the hell do you want Hakeem Olajuwan? Do you want CD to trade Francis or Mobley or both in order to pay you more money? Well screw you! I have cheered for you since your days at Phi Slamma Jamma. I cheered for you as part of the Twin Towers. I marveled at you as the leader of two world championship teams and I was thinkful when Les and the Rockets did not trade you to Toronto two years ago. Now however I am just tired of your charade. Please leave and get on with your life and allow the Rockets to get on with theirs. It is apperant that you are not the least bit concerned about the team, only about your selfish desires. Your needs have been met many times over and you will never want for anything again. So be happy you got all you could from the Rockets. Now either sign the damn contract that Les has offered you or agree to the damn trade! ------------------ Women can not fart, belch or burp...therefore they must b**** or they will explode. Maybe Dream is having second thoughts abt the whole thing altogether b/c he knows he probably can't even pass a physical. Maybe his greedy ass will just retire now ------------------
While I agree with all your sentiment, we did not offer him all we can. According the Feigen's numbers of $24m total salaries and $3.1m cap hit for an unsigned Shandon and Moochie, we have roughly $15m to spend on Dream and Mo combined. Even if we give Mo the MAXIMUM, we still have $6m for Dream. By the numbers, it looks like Shandon is demanding more than an Early Bird, or we plan to keep money under the cap for a summer free agent or season trades. There is no other reason to say that $4.1m this year is all we can pay Dream. Well, let me qualify that last sentence. There is a reason, but only if Les and CD are worried about next summer's cap hit from a two yr deal with Dream. To me, they just refuse to pay above market for Dream, because they do not want excessive salary on the books next summer. But make no mistake, we are NOT offering him all we can, by the numbers. Dream isn't sabotaging our rebuilding plans..what a cheap contract!!Killing the sign and trade is a GOOD thing. Why do think our guys are STILL waiting PATIENTLY?Bull's comments can be construed as speaking for the organization moreso than the players..It's PR..Be patient like our players are.The deal on the table is a bargain for the Rockets.I've watched him since he stepped on the UH campus too and yes, over the years we've seen this behavior before. In the end he always comes around.Look, the guy has a lot more in the tank than many might realize.Utilized correctly,he can still be a force..and is a necessity if we are to compete over the next few years.Contract negotiations have their own ebb and flow..toss in the agent...and all the other teams clamoring for his services and it's gonna take awhile. They had to get offers to set length and value on the contract. This team will be doing more than rebuilding with a healthy Dream next year. The guy pretty much assures us of dominating almost every Eastern team and allows us a chance to compete on even footing with the teams in the West.I wouldn't worry about his age at this price. While Dream's game is very different from Jabbar,it is similiar in some ways...Sky hook...15-20 foot jumper and the Dreamshake....cerebral player.....GREAT defense. Both brought a lot to the table late.Dream's game has been based on overall athleticism with fundamentals added along the way.I believe this to be the reason for the obvious dropoff when he is not right. He has relied on that athleticism for so long.Regulate his minutes and his game and the big fella will be fine as will our youngsters. ------------------ Everybody has a little bit of Watergate in em - Billy Graham [This message has been edited by hardwood (edited July 31, 2001).]
Hey Crash, I don't believe Hakeem played in or was even on the bench of that Knicks game at MSG last year... ------------------
gimp, I am not talking about the game in New York I am talking about the one in Houston. We were getting our asses handed to us in the first half but in the second half Dream came out fired up. He was blocking shots, rebounding, making dream shakes and embarising Camby with that little wrap around baseline move he loves to do. In that half Dream definitely turned back the clock. That was the game that turned around the second half of the season for us and everyone on this board was singing praises to Hakeem. That was Dreams best game in the last three years. I wish that game could be my last memory of Dream. ------------------ Women can not fart, belch or burp...therefore they must b**** or they will explode.
I went to that game and it was GREAT! That was the turn-around after one of the worst times in Rockets history. ------------------ I have seen much of the rest of the web. It is brutal and cruel and dark. CC.net is the light.
When it comes to the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs, Dream turns it up a notch. Don't know why, but he does. ------------------ What if I say to you that the universe is a three-legged horse, eh? I want to make it clear that I am not just someone looking to bash Hakeem. I just want to remember him as the guy that once blocked 10 shots against Arkansas and led HU to the final four, three years in a row. I want to remember Dream and Ralph roaming the middle as the twin towers in the mid 80s. I want to remember him dropping 49 against Seatle in the play-offs one year. I want to remember him winning the season MVP and Finals MVP and finaly leading the Rockets to its first Championship. I want to remember him schooling Robinson and Shaq on his way to a second championship. I want to remember the hug between him and Clyde after the 95 championship. I want to remember the smile he had during the second half of the Knicks game last year leading the Rockets back to an improbable come from behind victory. I do not want to remember him as the disgruntled old center that did not get his way and stood in the way of the Rockets rebuilding the team to championship form. ------------------ Women can not fart, belch or burp...therefore they must b**** or they will explode.
