Now that the team is on downward spiral, what changes do we need? Some will say that it's a knee jerk but we can't stay with this situation 'coz we're in the great Western Conference..lots of stronger and younger teams out there jockeying for playoff position.

You are right, this post belongs in the same category with the other 1000-ish knee-jerk posts out there on this board. ;)

I think I just knee-jerked myself reading this.

    ouch

maybe because I'm trying to resolve in my mind how "Roster Tweaking" is a "Drastic Change"....cleverly disguised "FIRE ADELMAN" thread. 'eh?

Wait until the trade deadline and swing a mega trade with Battier, Hayes, and Jefferies for a superstar.

    Thats the ONLY way.

    Coaching change is, meh.

Morey isn't going to force a trade, not his style, and changing coaches is premature.

But if the slide continues, let's say 5-15, we might see a lineup change.

I hate to say it, but Aldeman needs to go. He is not what Rockets basketball stands for.

It might be the players, but the coaches deserve the same amount of blame. On paper the Rockets can match up with any one, even with Yao out.

Something needs to be changed, and I would first look at who's running this team.

We have nothing to offer Minny. They are going to pair that kid up with Love, and be set for the next ten years.

oh how I wish that trade for Tyson Chandler did not fall through over the summer. Having him would have made a big difference. However this season plays out we need to make a push for him hard. His contract expires this year.

    i'd say both
Adelman does not know what is defense
and this roster as it is does not go so far

we need a new coach and a significant trade

Patience might be what is needed at this point.

Id say it starts with the coaching which has been the worst coaching I have seen in years from the Rockets organization. I dont necessarily think that Rick needs to be fired right away but Les Alexander and Morey need to have some serious come to Jesus talks to him about the direction he is leading this team. If they are still performing the same around the trade deadline and the coaching has not improved, he has to go.

After that the veterans or "comfort foods" should be moved. Battier, Hayes, and even Jefferies still have value to teams both looking for expiring contracts and solid veterans. These guys should be easy to move and gives the young guys the ability to grow and develop.

Moving one of the most sucessful coaches of the past 10 years never sounds like the right plan but Les and Morey need to state their displeasure with the direction they are taking the team and make moves if they do not respond with a winning formula.

Damn that patience crap....I refuse to be in the rebuilding process, its time to win NOW not down the line (2-3 years)......time for Mr. Morey to earn his money, plain and simple.

they were who we thought they were......a mid-level team with high aspirations and no legit (healthy) superstar .

    I agree.

We need to get our team healthy first before we come to any conclusion. Just give it time.

    (and, pray we'll be healthy)

We don't need any drastic change, since as others have mentioned we haven't been fully healthy all year.

If anything we move one or two players but that sort of change won't instantly fix anything or make up contenders, especially if it means giving up some of our younger pieces like Hill, Budinger or Patterson. Nor will giving up Scola or Martin make us any better either.

Basically we will most likely have to live or die with this roster for a while. My only hope is that Adelman gets a firm grasp on what he has and uses it (i.e. start either Hill or Miller and don't let Hayes get more minutes then them when going against athletic big men that can shoot over him).
