This game is freaking epic. I just played for about three hours straight and I never play games for that long. Extremely worth the wait. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoyed Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic or Mass Effect. BioWare never seems to disappoint.
It's out? I was just about to start a thread on this with the various versions from different retailers that have different in-game equipment if you pre-order : http://www.geardiary.com/2009/10/16...n-age-origins-pc-xbox360-ps3-pre-order-money/ Initial post here has some good info, too : http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/39309975/m/911003371041/p/1
It isn't out in stores until Tuesday, but lots of people got lucky with 1 day shipping from UPS. Including myself.
b*stard! Do you mind if I remove the "XBOX" part of your thread title since people are going to be playing this on every platform? We can just use this as the Dragon Age thread. For anyone who's interested : Steam's preloading apparently started today. If you order online, you may want to start downloading now. lol.
How's the performance on the 360 version? Smooth? I'm trying to decide whether to get this for console or PC.
Man this is a terrible time to not have any money. I'm stuck on Demons Souls right now anyways but Modern Warfare, this, uncharted 2, and little big planet are all on my list to get... and the fact that DS is taking forever to beat isnt helping.
Ordered my PC CE from the EA store the other day. I dont care if it comes a few days after launch, but that seemed the only way to get the CE. Gamestop is so unreliable.
I ordered my digital download version off of Steam just now and can't log into Steam to start preloading. I get the feeling I won't be playing for a week. lol. Ah, technology.
My CE that I pre-ordered shipped from EA on Friday. Tracking hasn't been updated with a delivery date yet, but it does say 2 Day Air so I guess that means Tuesday then, right?
I've looked at the developer guided playthrough. It looks like a souped up version of Neverwinter Nights, which I enjoyed; but, if that's all Dragon Age's going to be, I'd be disappointed. It looks like another Bioware RPG with an insane re-use of stock models, jerky animation, and clunky combat system.
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/dragonageorigins?q=dragon age 94 PC Gamer UK This is the most enormously detailed game world I've experienced, its history stretching back thousands of years, its cultures vivid, beautiful and flawed, the battles enormous, the humour superb. Roleplaying games now have a great deal to live up to. [Dec 2009, p.74] Sounds like a winner to me.
I haven't had any problems on my 360. Completely smooth and no "jumps" in the animation. It really comes down to your preference, I would believe. But I haven't seen the PC version to give a fair comparison.
As sad as it is to admit, I never played Neverwinter Nights (I'm a console guy...). I really wanted to, but my PC was too much of a wimp back then and I've just never gotten the hang of keyboard & mouse over a controller. So I can't tell you if Dragon Age is like that. It reminds me more of Baldurs Gate with gameplay similar to Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic. As far as "jerky animation," I haven't seen any yet. But I am only three hours into the game (stupid job!). So far, it is flawless.
I think I am going to go to Gamestop or wherever and get the CE strategy guide. There are so many side quests that I am sure I will miss. And rumor has it that those stretch a 40 hour game to an 80 hour game.
How much is the guide? I may pick it up instead of waiting for GameFAQs. The one gripe I have is that my CE doesn't come with Warden's Keep, so I'll have to pay for it. I think it comes with the Digital CE though.
Not too sure. It is a hardback book, so I am sure they'll jack the price up. I may just end up getting it on Amazon.com. Usually isn't as bad.
Are you playing on PC or console? I've only played KOTOR and Mass Effect on PC, but I think I may get this for PS3. However I'm scared I may not like a controller interface opposed to board and mouse
