After reading about the ATM QB and how fast he ran the 40 (4.35)??? shouldn't he at least be considered since we've been thinking about drafting Vince Young. (ducking from Longhorn fans). That's Vick speed and if McNeal falls to the later rounds could he be looked at as a project? I didn't watch any of his games this past year so could anyone give some insight? How high is he rated in the draft boards?????

It seems like we've got lots other needs at OL and defense. But hey it's worked well for Pittsburgh. If he dropped far enough and he's the best player on the board then why not.

I have watched every single one of his collegiate games. He has a great arm and is extremely fast (for any position). He never really had too much talent around him in his tenure. I believe he could have had a special career (much like vince did), but he was mis-utilized and the aggie defense was atrocius. He was on the heisman watchlist to start the year. He was fantastic in his junior year, and then pretty good this year. The offense ran was not really suited to his abilities. Reggie has amazing speed but he is not a great runner. He was not very good at running the option (evidenced by Mcgee being phenomenal at it). He would never seem to pitch it at the right times. His best runs were when the play was broken and he could take off. He saved many games by running in critical situations (much like Vince). He is also extremely accurate when on the move, there were countless times when he turned something into nothing by scrambling and even threw across his body. He was very accurate and made great decisions his junior year. It took him 8 games to throw his first interception. This year was a different story as all his top wrs missed significant time. He also bulked up, and it seems he overthrew many wrs or thru the ball too hard (especially considering the talent level of the WRS). He also seemed very tentative to run this year, almost like he did not want to get hurt. Maybe he also wanted to impress scouts? He seemed like he had all the tools and intagibles untill this year. He showed no leadership this year, and I believe the team even became divided. Reggie had the ability to be a great pocket passer but that is not the offense that was run. It seems like the coaches were trying to use his speed too much and not so much his arm. Reggie has worlds of potential. There are questions about his size, leadership and accuracy. I believe his accuracy is good, based on what I have seen. He is a gifted athlete with a great arm. He could be a steal at QB,but if it doesn't work out there he can be something with all his speed.

I believe he will be gone by the end of the third/ beginning of the 4th round.

yeah i agree i think he could be a good player. makes you wonder how he would have did in place of vince young. never can know though. kind of like you wish you could see the rockets play the bulls that one year when they lost against the freaking jazz.

Heck yes they should think about drafting him in the later rounds. Speed kills, especially at a traditionally non - speed position like QB.

I have also watched just about every game he has played. The guy has the pure athleticism, strong arm and tools to be a great player. He needs to right coach, system, and someone to play behind, and he could end up being a good player at the NFL level.

He is also has some knocks. He wasn't able to pull it all together on the field at times. There was also a rumor that he was cleared to play the last game at Kyle field against UT and he sat out. If that is true, and its the last game, senior year, at home, against UT, and a win at least makes it a winning year and a bowl appearance, and he didn't play when he had the chance, I would seriously question his heart.

You could argue that the year was a flop, but Texas football was supposed to be about Reggie and Vince, and he didn't even step on the field against him when he had a chance (allegedly). As a fan, I think that's crap.

I am pretty sure this was proven to be false. Rumor I heard was that he missed a meeting and was suspened. But thats also just a rumor. There are definitely questions about his heart due to these rumors. It was a tough tough year for the football team though, he needs a fresh start.

Reggie isn't the smartest player, but ofcourse even the best of them make stupid mistakes like Bush's lateral pass in the Championship game.

He sure is one hell of an athlete though. I've watched him for the last 2 years. Ofcourse they should go after him if he is still available in the later rounds.

I thought the word on him was that he would have to change positions (from QB to possibly in the defensive secondary or WR) in the NFL?

Looking at some of the scrub backups in the league, I think Reggie McNeal could play QB at the next level.

Hell, Seneca Wallace is the backup QB for the defending NFC Champion Seahawks and I think McNeal has a much, much higher cieling than that midget. He's 5'11 and doesn't have the arm strength or speed that McNeal has at 6'2.

I say if he's there in the third when we have 2 picks, or maybe even later if he doesn't want to change positions. He could end up being a steal. He would definately be a project though. But look at Chris Simms. Arguably, a pretty mediocre college career but he had all the tools. He spent two seasons learning from one of the best QB guru coaches in the NFL (Gruden), and now he's a playoff QB. Yeah, I know, Simms isn't going to win any MVP awards, but he's a QB of a PLAYOFF team in the NFL. We've got a QB guru at the head coach position now and we're giving Carr 8 mill to hold down the fort, why not?!?

He also had a much more successful college career. But he's not really an NFL quarterback anyway. Who cares if he's the Seahawks backup.

Simms finished as the alltime leading passer at Texas and had a pretty damned good record as a starter. "pretty mediocre"? Only by Vince Young standards

    that is so freaking funny!

I'd take Reggie in the third, and I'm not even an Aggie.

Could you imagine the world where we have Young as QB and McNeal as his backup. Sticking it to those Aggies every Sunday baby.

Sideline call: "Longhorns on the field, Aggies on the bench, let's go!" (how many times do you think Kubes would sit down before he realized that it doesn't apply to him).
