Okay the Lottery Draft is tonight. Of course they would do it during the Eastern Conference finals to get some kind of ratings. So who do you think is going to win the Draft Lottery? Do you think whoever wins it is going to take Okafor automatically, or can someone beat him at number 1 overall?
magic must not win, therefore we can get mgcrady. Cause if they win the number one pic, mcgrady may want to stay.
For grins, my prediction: 1) Chicago 2) Toronto 3) Orlando 4) Charlotte (locked in) 5) Washington (NBA order by record starting at #6)
yeah if they end up with a good center like Okafor even if he is a bit small, but then a gain they are in the east. He would want to stay cause that's what he has been missing. That inside presence offensively and defensivly. This could easily shake up trades and signings this off season.
I just realized that i should not have put the bobcats on there...im an idiot....wonder if anyone will place a vote for them lol.
Might as well pop it in here, too. As some of you may know, I have long been a Rockets fan, but in the past few years have also become a Raptors fan as well, in that I live in Toronto. Today is the draft lottery which, to those of you who know anything about the Raptors, has been a universally bad day. That is not an overstatement. I am making an appel here to my fellow Rockets fans to have a little compassion and fair play in their hearts, and think of the Canadian team for just second or two with an inner eye towards karma, and I am going to presnt my case why they deserve it; Unique to NBA history, and not likely to ever be repeated, the Canadian expansion teams were intentionally screwed in the draft for the first 5 years of their existence; they were restricted from the 1st overall pick, irrespective of their record. Now before you say, tough luck, but you chose to take it, you need to know that in Toronto there were 3 groups looking for the rights to the franchise, and the one which everyone considered the best said it wouldn't accept playing against a stacked deck like that; so they were passed over for another group that would. A few years later that other group mismanaged their way into trouble, and were bought out by, you guessed it, the 1st group. The Canadian teams were also stuck with only being able to use 2/3 of the regular cap for years. At least once the Raps won the lottery, but had to pass on the top piuck as agreed. Since then, in each and every year, the Raptors ave been screwed in the lottery. They have always, repeat always ended up drafting lower than their record suggested. It's odds on that that'll happen some times, but every time is a curse. Last year the Raptors finished the season with the most games lost to inuury of any team in NBA history, and in what was seen to be a 3 deep draft where they should draft 3rd drafted, of course, 4th. Now Bosh has turned out fine, but the curse still held. Of course, in a league where things like Malone's suspension..er..fine and the Jordan Rules have applied for years, amny in Toronto feel there's a little more to it than a curse, but that's just frustration. But considering years and years of being screwed, many of them admitedly intentionally, I feel it's about time the Rpas caught a break on lottery day. they are likely to pick 8th. Even staying there would be a record setting event, but I feel that all the bad luch should pay off in some good luck for once, and hope that those of you in Houston with nothing to fear from the Raptors, and considering the luck has to go somewhere might see it in your hearts to wish my other team a little retribution today. I hope you do. Thanks for listening. __________________
However, that would make Gooden expendable. Gooden might be our best answer for acquiring a promising PF for a reasonable price.
With that much compasion and the fact that i don't want Orlando to win it so we could have a slight chance at Mcgray i will root all of my energy and good luck towards the Raptors. They have a slim chance but hey so did the Rockets that one year. You can get lucky. Of course we don't fear anything from Toronto at least no now so good luck to your team and hopefully you move up =)
Thanks, pal. I had some friends of mine up here rooting for Houston in the Yao lottery, and with less karmic rationale, too. Of couse, there was the low point in my confidence, when I offered to fellate any and all BBS members if we won the lottery, but thankfully, aside from a few curious E-Mails, most forgto about that later, and the statute of limitations has worn off....
the Bobcats are not in the lottery... why are they there ? (I picked them... just so the other NO BASKETBALL IQ people who vote for them will not feel alone)
It would be nice if you just read the posts above your posts. I made a mistake. I can't change the poll. I was typing them from a list of predictions on another site and i overlooked it.
1. Washington 2. Orlando 3. Chicago 4. Charlotte etc etc Which frees us up to trade Steve Francis to the Wizards for a package that includes the #1 pick (but not Gilbert Arenas or Jerry Stackhouse). Or frees us up to trade with Orlando because they wouldn't have the incentive to keep T-Mac.
Macbeth, I like rooting for the underdogs and I was looking towards Atlanta to pull off the upset tonight, but after reading your piece I'm crossing my fingers for your Raptors dude. Higgitus Figgitus Boom.
This is true. But that is what my gut said, and thus I wrote. However, if my prediction DID come true, that would make Chandler expendable. Ergo, if they read Dear Abby and the mock drafts, they would take Emeka Okafor, and we might be able to acquire Chandler (or Okafor ) in a trade.
If there is any truth to the conspiracy theories surrounding the NBA draft lotto, expect the big market Chicago Bulls to get the first pick. They draft Okafor leaving a stable of young PF's with some great potential expendable.
