One of the thing I haven´t seen we discuss here is how the draft rights to the players we hold or their arrival can affect this trade deadline or the outlook of the team in 2010. I´d say Badiane is out of the picture since we haven´t shown any interest on him, and that reduces the chance other teams may like him. Eliyahu has been named the player of the month (December 09) in the euroleague, he is playing right now in TAU Ceramica, If I´m not wrong, the same team Scola was playing before coming here. Newley and Leuneen both are in Turkis league and it wasn´t easy to get info on that. I believe Eliyahu has a Casspi kind of rookie season on him, he seems to have more experience, he can be a key part of a trade with a rebuilding washington or as as a sweetener for a sistem like the D´antoni has in NY. A 3 with range and agility, a fearless slasher. If he is not moved we can bring him in and have him in a 2010 second unit with Landry, Lowry and C-Bud Besides we can also show Lull in the trades as we know he is no coming soon with the current roster
I don't think teams will be stumbling over each other to grab El-EEE-AH-OOOO, other than the fact his name is awesome. He's just a 6-8 banger that has absolutely no range on his shot. He didn't develop to play NBA ball, he developed to succeed in Europe. The only thing he and Casspi have in common is that they are both from Israel. Newley and Maarty might be able to make a roster, but the problem is no one other than us know who they are. And we think of them only as possible prospects and Summer League fillers. Lull probably has the most trade value, which may not be that much. Even if he wouldn't be able to push a Butler/Amare/Bosh trade over the top, I wouldn't mind waiting to see if he could develop into a role player for us (especially after we dropped $2 mill for his rights)
That, and the fact that the Rockets traded their rights to Badiane to Memphis a couple of year ago.
According to Wikipedia- Also Yahoo sports has his profile under the Grizzlies name. I think it's safe to say his shot at the NBA is long gone.
