I don't remember where I heard this but I think the Magic owe us a first round draft pick before 2003. Do you think it will be given to us this year? If they make the play-offs it wont be a very high pick and they might give it to us. But if they fall short they will have a chance at a high pick.....who knows they might give that to us. They've done alot of other stupid things like trading Horace Grant, Nick Anderson (I suppose his trade wan't stupid) and all the rest of their decent players.

There's rumours that they owe as "A" first round pick and not "THEIR" first round pick. So since Orlando has so many picks they can give us whichever one they want-I think they've got Phoenix's- and that won't be such a high pick...

..and I'm assuming that since they've cleared all this cap room to go after a quality FA then they might not want all 4(?) of their first round picks this year(which all lead to guaranteed contracts) so they may just give us a pick this year.

..I'm also assuming that Philly will give us their pick this year - but Detroit will probably hang onto theirs.. so we'll end up with 3 first rounders... hopefully we can get something out of that !!!

    Thanks bauer,
I've been thinkin about the draft this year heaps (who hasn't) but I actually think if the Rockets can get a few picks they could get Peterson for the 3 spot and a back-up for Cato. This will depend on Cato taking the starting spot and working hard over the summer on his offense.

I guess the good new is that Cato's willing to stay in Houston and work hard AND that he's been playing well lately against some decent centers (sorry.. A decent center).

This might sound a bit rough, but I think how he handles the center spot will determine how well this team will fare in the next 3-4 years.

I've been a fan of Peterson for the 3 spot sonce January, and now he goes and shows off in the national spotlight... lets just hope that doesn't raise his stock to the point that we can't get a hold of him...

At 6' 6" and maybe 215 lbs (upper estimate) I just don't see why ya'll think Mo Pete is any more of a small forward than Shandon is. We would be drafting at our deepest position, unless you want to move Mobley or SA.

Now if we trade Mobley for like a #4 pick an get top notch true front-court player with that pick, then I would be happy getting Mo with our own (7ish) pick. But I don't see that happening.

    ha ha ha you guys.

I doubt the Rockets can get a 4th pick for Mobley.

Oh, and the Rockets have philadelphia's pick? That is seriously news to me. When did the Rockets get Philadelphia's pick? I know it wasn't for Turshard, that pick was Detroits via philadelphia. Is there something that I am missing?

More than likley the Rocks may only have that 7th pick. But, if you guys know something I don't tell me.

Hang on!!!!!! Cuttino is a free agent next season so we can't even think about trading him for no-one. Cuttino, Shandon, Steve, Moochie, Carlos, Kenny and Walt will definately be in Houston next year. Rudy I think will really want to keep them. I would be interestedin knowing if teams still want to trade for dream!!!! I really don't want to have to do it (or say it) but Hakeem could get us some good, young players. Could we trade him for Othella and Michael (Dickerson)? I know you maybe saying why Michael he's a 2 gaurd but could possibly get a three way trade going. Also I was thinking of a sign/trade deal for Grant Hill.

Something else to consider is that we owe Vancouver a first round pick in the next three years. If Orlando give the Rocks the worst of their four first picks this year, the Rocks are very likely to ship the pick off to Vancouver.

Coincidentally, I think that the Rockets have Vancouver's second round pick from the Sam Mack trade.
