if a team in the west has .550 record and does not make the playoffs and a team in the east has a .500 record but is like the 4th seed in the playoffs, who gets the higher draft position? the team with the worst record or the one that didn't make the playoffs? something happened today that made me think of this.
The 14 teams that dont make the playoffs pick first then the teams that do make the playoffs pick. Last year New Orleans and clippers picked before the nets and wizards.
yep this is why west will remain stronger than east. mediocre to poor teams in east wont get lottery picks but strong teams like blazers, nuggets, or Warriors will get a lottery pick. after the 14 lottery teams pick, then the 16 teams that made the playoffs pick by record.
