C-Ming, Cato, Collier PF-Taylor, KT, TMo SF-Griffin, Rice, #15 SG-Mobley, Filler, #15 PG-Francis, Norris That would be the best starting 5 in the league, and a pretty good bench too, but poor little Mobley wants Odom. lets see....Odom comes, Griffin wants more playing time, Rice wants more playing time, and we never solve the problem of not having a center, oh ya-Odom gets busted for lighting another blunt up with MoT. Another bust season, everyone wants out. People say they want a proven player, how many people coming out of the draft are proven players-NONE. Charlotte traded Kobe Bryant for proven players. Ouch Draft Ming and Keep him
GREAT point on the Kobe issue, now the whole is back packing to New Orleans, a city that already didnt work out for an nba team! Man I would hate to be the brain that opted to do that lol, Oh well, thats why its a gamble I just hope that Houston has the balls to draft greatness!
Aww, come on, put Torres there. The guy looks like he can at least develop into a very solid backup, and as it is our tallest guard is 6'4.
Just by you saying that would be the best starting 5 in the league shows that you're not thinking reasonable. I know you all want the next 7 foot savior, but Ming is not him. Sactown is showing that 5 quality players playing together is better than 2 stars and some scrubs.
Cedsports, are you saying that the lineup I have are all scrubs, but 2? I'm assuming you mean Steve and Cuttino. Sac does have 5 quality players, but it's their chemistry that has brought them this far. If that mock lineup becomes a reality, all 5 starters are quality players, 2 being superstars, but like I said, it's all about the chemistry. We need size, Ming solves that, and we can find an athletic 2 or 3 for our #15.
gucci888, I agree Ming would bring size, but we could get size and then some if we trade this pick. I'm sure you have been reading the other threads that go in detail about what other trade possibilities that are out there, so I not going to go into detail. But if you can get a multi-talented small forward, a top 10 pick thats a big man and a top 12 player. Along w/ dumping a unwanted salary, this is opp. you can't pass up. Sure you may be able to get a SF at 15, but honestly who at 15 is or will be better than Odom, or Lewis, or who ever we could get? P.S. oh by the way if we can sqeeze a 1st rounder for next year, how can you pass that up?
Ming-17pts 8reb 3asst 4bs Taylor-16pts 8reb 2asst 1bs Griffin-16pts 7reb 2asst 3bs Mobley-20pts 4reb 4asst .5bs Francis-22pts 5reb 7asst .5bs That is on pure speculation, but I don't think that it's that far-fetched. To tell you the truth, I can't name a good center that has come out of the draft since Duncan. Borchdart-the next Jason Collier. You can't teach height, but for Cato and Collier, you better teach them something.
I think you are expecting too much for Ming. I mean Cato only got 6.6 pts per game for the last season. Ming never played for NBA. He needs time to adapt it.
I guess I got a little crazy, but they are capable of doing it. Throw in a decent shooting guard/small forward and we have a deep bench.
Thats way too optimistic for Ming in his first year. Maybe 3 years down the line. Ming is going to be getting into foul trouble all year long and will probably only average 20 mins a game. Remember he is like a player coming out of high school so he is going to take a while.
Ming's not comperable to a player coming out of high school! JuCo...maybe. The foul trouble and the upper body strength are what worry me in his first season. I'm confident he'll adapt, learn and work on his chest/arm strength. My prediction for Ming's first year is 13 pts, 8 rebs, 2 assts, 3 blks and 4 turnovers. I see a lot more upside in points and rebounds with a decrease in TOs in future years. He and Kelvin will put up great combined numbers from the center spot this year.
Ahhhh..... You're right. High School is a little overboard. They do have some talented ex-college and pro players over there in Benoit and God Shamgod. I'll go ahead and throw out my predictions for Ming next year. 1st year: 9 pts, 6 rbs, 2 asts, 2 blks, in 20 mins.
Hey that's better than Cato. The more I think about it, the more I don't want Odom. Cat was saying he would help, because 48 games were loss by 7 points or less. If we made our freethrows, we could have won half of those games. Odom is only 65% from the line, that's horrible. Ming is in the low 80's. It seems like Cat wants a lot more flash on this team, which I believe is the last thing we need. Our turnovers weren't that bad last year, our defense was horrible, and our freethrows were embarrasing. I'm not saying Ming would solve all of that immediately, but he has a better chance than Odom. Cat also said it would be "over", try to stop a 7ft. 5in. guy who can shoot, pass, block, and rebound. At times they will double team him, pass it back out, jumpshots for whoever wants em', then it would be "over."
From what I see it's hard to tell if Yao Ming is over-rated. But when I saw that Peter Vescey didn't want Houston to have him that must mean he's pretty good (even in the NBA).
That's a good point, I have high hopes for Ming, but I won't be suprised if he is not that good. But when you hear about columnist that say Rockets should trade, what do they care. It is very interesting that a lot of articles have been written by New York columnist, coincidence? I doubt it. How come all of the sudden everyone cares about the Rockets?
Ming-12pts 10reb 1asst 3bs Taylor-14pts 4reb 2asst 0.4bs Griffin-12pts 9reb 1asst 3bs Mobley-21pts 4reb 3asst .5bs Francis-20pts 6reb 8asst .5bs Thomas-11pts 7reb 3asst Norris-6 pts 2reb 5asst This is all for the case that the Rockets do not make more trades (I still expect them to make some moves). Seems fine to me. Ming doesn't need to score much for me to be happy with him. I think he can eventually improve to being a 18/13/4bs guy. Also, I don't really want Griffin to shoot too much, unless he can improve his fg %.
Best starting 5? Anyway.....we won't have 2 superstars as someone mentioned. Kobe/Shaq = superstars. Stevie = Allstar Mobley = Good 6th man that gets a lot of minutes. That's okay though...because the Lakers are the only one's with 2 superstars. We need good team chemistry...........as well as other things like a higher Bball IQ, offense, defense...etc.
I think there was something between Knicks and Shanghai sharks. When Yao Ming got the news that Rockets won the lottery, he was very surprised. The first word he said was:"New York should win the lottery. Who knows what was happened to them?" There was a disscussion between Oriental TV of Shanghai and Cable television company of New York about the share of the revenue of TV broadcast of Ming's NBA games at early May. And I heard a rumar that Ming was told not to be too good at Chicago's public workout. No doubt that he did a better work at the private workout with Knicks. Do you think Ming's stock can slip to #7?
