Just to see how useless these things are, take a walk down memory lane - all the way back to the year...2003. You remember that year, the War in Iraq was over as the mission had been accomplished, and 50 Cent was topping the pop charts. Kyle Boller? He got the Ravens an A+. The Chiefs got a C+ for taking Larry Johnson. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfldraft/columnist?id=1545469 http://sports.espn.go.com/nfldraft/columnist?id=1545468
Even funnier, here's one from 2002. http://www.fantasyfootballexperts.com/nfl_draft/draft_2002_grades.htm The "A" teams? Why, it's NFL powerhouses Houston, Detroit, San Diego. Bringing up the rear with D's and F's? Moribund franchises like Pittsburgh and New England, who "reached" for such chumps as Deion Branch, Daniel Graham, Kendall Simmons, and Antwan Randle-El (stupid steelers passed on Patrick Ramsey, what a bunch of dumbasses - they could have had their QB of the future)
They did note the drafting of Domanick Davis, Musa Smith, Robert Mathis(!), Cato June, and Tully Banta-Cain who were all low round selections. Pasquerelli is usually pretty good but I thought his really mean-spirited attack on the Texans was uncalled for and seemed too personal. Here's the link to that: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft06/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=2426087 Jeez, did Charlie wizz in his cereal or something? That article reads like it was written by Reggie's Grandma or something.
From the Sporting News, 2001: NEW ENGLAND The team didn't do well on the first day. But Sunday was different. Drew Bledsoe needed a tight end, so the Patriots took two of the best available (Jabari Holloway, Arthur Love). Grade: C+ The Pats drafted Richard Seymour in the 1st round, and starting OT Matt Light in the 2nd. Worst Picks: CAROLINA WR Steve Smith. He isn't ready to contribute at receiver, and it's doubtful he will wrestle the kickoff-return chores from Michael Bates. The Panthers spent a third-round pick on a punt returner.
