Not now, but how about on draft day we trade Cuttino to Chicago or Washington for the #1 pick? Is Cat worth the #1 pick? I really don't think so, but CD should atleast try to see if they will bite. If not we throw in our first rounder. I think whoever gets the #1 pick would do it. Anybody agree or disagree?

    He's not worth a #1 pick.

There is no way anybody will be trading Lauren Woods (who WILL be #1, barring any major injuries) for Cuttino straight up. Legit centers are an endangered species these days, and Woods is 7' 2" with a LOT of athleticism...He'll be a player...

I am sorry, but we don't need to trade Cuttino for anyone. He is a Rocket for life and key integral part of the team. I can't believe you would even consider it.

Cuttino is the man!!! If Cuttino goes so does Steve.

Sorry to say, but players like Cuttino are a dime a dozen. Legit centers with real skills are a rare commodity. I doubt anyone would be foolish enough to throw away the top pick in the draft for Cat.

I mean, really, if we had the #1 pick, would we trade it away for Sczerbiak? Or Ron Mercer?? No chance in hell.

What about Cato and Mobley? For the #1 pick in the draft.

Unless the other team is under the salary cap, the Rockets would have to take salary back in return to make a trade fly.

    That means:

    Cato + Cat + Rockets #1 == #1 pick + about 10 million of salary.

Would have to be some extreme dead weight contracts that the other team is trying to ditch.

    Likely not going to happen.

Mango, we could kiss our playoff chances for the next two years goodbye(the pick wont be as good as cuttino for a couple years and we lose a good defensive big man)

    Smeg,

Suppose Washington got the #1 pick in the draft:

Do you think Jordan would send that pick (or pick a player on Houston's behalf) + M Richmond for Walt + Carlos + Collier + Bull + Houston's #1? If the salary numbers don't come out quite right, that can be fixed with some filler players and/or third team involvement.

If a person has the patience with realgm, they can probably work up scenarios in which Cato or Walt et al, get traded for deadweight such as:

    J Howard + the #1 pick
Big Country + the #1 pick

If Rockets fans shudder at the thought of such trades, they should stop thinking that the Rockets will be able to dump Walt without having to get a lump of coal back in return.

    Mango,

for me Jordan will want to get rid of
    Strickland
    Richmond
    Howard

Now Stickland is a head case but maybe he stillcan play, who knows so he night have so value, maybe the Knicks might be interested, or the Lakers or maybe Miami if Tim knees don't last another season after this one.

So i reckon they can probably trade him to someone else and get in return some guys in their last years of contract or actually someone decent

What if we signed Dream to a one year deal first and then trade himto Washington or get him in a 3 way trade with was, us and someone else, his large salary, would enable the matching of the ballooned deadweight wizards salaries, or if we traded him now, although that would not guarentee us the #1 pick.

I tried RealGM, it is really tough, those salries are so high for guys that play that poorly.

I think Shandon (re-signed), Collier, Rogers, Williams, Cato and Bull and our first round pick for the #1 oick and Richmond and Strickland.

Now this really demostrates what we would have to give up to get the pick, so in short...NO
