Bush is a special rare player to come out since (Barry Sander, Vick)

I know the Texans has alot of holes to fill but IF we do end up with the #1 pick and have a shot we HAVE TO TAKE HIM!
If we ended up with the #2 pick or if Bush has already been taken THEN we can do what we need to do, trade down and get more picks then that's FINE! but NOT if we're in position to draft him. The Texans has already lost alot of fans this year and if they want to bring excitement back then they have to draft him. If the Texans screw up this pick I can imagine alot of pissed fans and more empty seats next year.

    Robert Gallery or LT?
    Jordan Gross or Barry Sander?

If DD can rush with this OL then Bush could easily too, and I'm not saying you dont fix the OL but fix it with other drafts/free agents.(I know we have been doing that the past yrs but that's Casserly at GM doing it)

ALL THE FANS at the last two home game should chant :

REG-GIE BUSH .... REG-GIE BUSH .... and let the front office hear your voice!

I'd be embarrased if our fans did that. I hope you're joking.

And Jordan Gross and Barry Sanders weren't even anywhere near the same draft. Before we annoint Bush the greatest back to ever come out, lets watch some video of him against good defenses with a bad Oline (something he'd have to deal with if the Texans past on ANOTHER golden opportunity to upgrade the Oline). I'd rather use the hype, trade down and get lots of multiple picks and Ferguson.

So a better comparison would be -

I'd rather have Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin than Herschal Walker
    or
I'd rather have Drew Brees and LaDanian Tomlinson than Mike Vick (the QB version of Reggie Bush).

McNair is a great business man, and Heisman Trophy Winner Reggie Bush creates the most marketable edge over anyone else and would automatically put fans back in their PSL's, especially after this year.

    Tony Boselli or Ki-Jana Carter?
    Jonathan Odgen or Tim Biakabatuka?
    Orlando Pace or Warrick Dunn?

Just as many examples the other way.

The Texans have a ton of glaring holes - if we could get multiple high draft picks to fill those holes - I think that's a move we have to make.

What makes you so sure that Casserly won't be back trying to fix the same OL that's been nothing but garbage the last 4 seasons?

Bush would be a good pick, but if DD can rush with this OL like you said, why get another RB?

I agree w/ Super on this one, that would be downright embarrassing.

I'm not saying Bush wouldn't be worth the pick, but good lord does he have a lot of hype surrounding him, the bigger they come, the bigger they fall. I don't know if Bush can live up to the hype of being "the best ever."

You get some props for pulling that name out of the hat...hadnt heard it in a while.

As far as Bush is concerned, if we have pick #1, I'd be quite disappointed if he isnt in a Texans uniform. Only way I pull a deal to trade down is if we are offered a top 10 pick this year, a 2nd, 3rd, and next years 1st. Steep price, but I dont want to give up Bush. Another thing I'd be worried about regarding trading down is that Casserly will probably waste most of those extra picks on players nobody has heard about, which would suck. Players like Bob Jojenson from East Texas Baptist State University. Or Lonnie Aquello from North Galveston State College.

That's the type of trade I'd be seeking for the number 1 pick in the Draft.

    Tony Mandarach or Barry Sanders.

Reggie Bush is a much higher rated prospect than Carter, Biakabatuka, or Dunn. You draft Bush unless you can get a Hershall Walker type deal to move down. He is just to special to give up for only a little.

At first I figured that the Texans should fill holes and trade down. Now with all the hype that Reggie is getting and the Heisman. I think they would Draft him because of the marketability of him and all the money it involves.

Bush being drafted instantly puts people in Reliant and McNair will want that. We had a bit of hype with Carr but the Buzz is dying and the team does not have any support.

Plug in a Reggie Bush you have instant fans in the seats waiting for a highlight reel. Jerseys being sold, and much more.

You trade down to pick up parts for your team to make it better slowly will not bring people back to Reliant until they prove and win. That will take a while and McNair will lose a lot of money.

The exposure and marketing of Reggie Bush much like Yao Ming for the Rockets will be a big reason that anyone will take Reggie Bush. Not to mention he is a hell of a talent.

Puedlfor, which holes do you think we should fill with the 2 mid 1st rounders we would probably get (if we're lucky) for Bush? WR? OT? OG? C? DE? DT? OLB? ILB? CB? SS? FS? We have holes at all of these positions.

My point is that we have so many holes to fill, we can't afford to draft by position. We have to take the best player available no matter what postion he plays. Remember, we're not drafting for next year we're drafting for the next 10 years.

Take the best player available. Period.

I seriously hope the Texans get the #1 pick.. and trade it.

Teams like the 49ers, Jets, Titans, Green Bay, Saints, and Cardinals would probably kill for a shot at Leinart or Bush.

If we can get all of these teams in a bidding war we could really clean up in the trade market.. TONS of first day picks..

Actually, I wouldn't be suprised if this type of deal was offered. Teams are drooling at the Bush/Leinart sweepstakes, there is no telling what they will do to get them.

I agree that I don't trust CC making the draft picks, but hopefully, he won't be. For me, it's either Bush or trade for a TOP5 pick + 2nd Rounder + Future 1st Rounder.

That's what San Diego got for both Vick and Eli, so I would think we'd be able to get that from somebody wanting to move up to get either Bush or Lienart.

Devil's Advocate: What about the (admittedly shallow) thousands of bitter UT fans upset about Bush beating their boy Vince Young in the Heisman and possibly UT in the Rose Bowl? (*cough*mydadtheseasonticketholder*cough*) Suddenly, it's not marketing you're worrying about; it's PR. And if Bush doesn't perform like he did at USC FROM DAY ONE, he's going to be fighting an uphill battle with those fans.

I honestly don't think that will be an issue.

For one thing, we'll get our revenge in the Rose Bowl. :D

    ok.

re: Warrick Dunn - I'm not saying he's bad. He's a good player - but he's also not a franchise talent like Pace. Just saying if I had a choice, I'd take Pace over even a decent back like Dunn.

re: Carter - Ki-Jana Carter was the No. 1 overall pick - prospects don't come higher rated than that.

re: trading down - obviously it would depend on the deal available - but given the hype surrounding Bush, is it really out of the realm of possbility that we could get a top five pick, a second rounder, a first rounder next year and another 2nd/3rd rounder?

re: Asses in seats - I fully see your point, but I would counter by saying nothing puts asses in seats like winning.
