Don't know if this was posted anywhere, but thought it would be worth adding to the mix: Kenny (Milpitas, CA): Hey Dr. Jack, I have a question concerning the recent trade between Houston and Orlando. Will T-Mac finally bring offense to the offensively challenged Rockets? Will the loss of Francis & Co. bring down the defense? How do you think T-Mac will share with Yao? The one thing I guess I worry for the Rockets about is if they will pick up a good point guard since they are losing their backup and Francis. Tell me if you think my fellow korean Ha Seung Jin will do anything in the league... thanks doc! Dr. Jack Ramsay: TMac will help the Rockets get off the ground. JVG will take care of the D...they will need another point so that Lue can back up...Utah's Arroyo might be the best fa point...but he's restricted...and Howard isn't bad at the BF. Haven't seen Ha...but have had good reports. Probably not a factor this year. and.. Jacob(Seattle): Dr. Jack, Will YaoMing ever be a perenial 25/15/5/5 intimidating dorminant center, one among the all-time greats? Dr. Jack Ramsay: I think so...he can really shoot, has great hands for catching the ball, keeps it high...and he's a good passer. All making him almost impossilbe to defend. He also works hard on D and is a fair blocker. He can only get better...he's got a great coach in JVG...and he was over 17 and about 9 this year. Got to run...see you in a couple of weeks...
If Yao can be a 20 pt/10 board/5 assist/3 blocks kinda guy, that would be phenomenal. I don't see 25 ppg, though. MAYBE.
I'm looking for 21/10/2/2 this year. Go yao!! and for t-mac I see 24/6/5 and look for his blocks to go up this year closer to what he used to be able to do.
if Yoa is 20/10/5/3 with T-Mac healthy and the defence like it was last year. The Rox will have the best record in the west, He will be a 18/10/4/2 player.
Consider this: When Yao played 35 minutes or more, he averaged 20.3ppg, 11.6rpg, 2.2bpg, and 1.8apg. This tells me that once he improves his stamina and cuts down on the dumb fouls (especially in the 1st quarter) he'll be able to post, at the least, Jermaine O'Neal numbers, and perhaps even Duncan-esque stats. It would help if he actually got some respect from the refs. No reason he shouldn't go to the line 7-8 times a game.
I will go along with these numbers. Yao's endurance really concerns me after having back to back years of running out of gas at the tail end of the season.
