Do these guys do their own research? In listing 10 things to watch for this season in addition to MJ, the Doctor wrote the following for #4 and seem to have missed Griffin, Morris and Oscar: 4. THE IMPACT OF ROOKIES Every year the high picks in the NBA draft are touted as potential "franchise" players or, at least, capable of raising the status of their new teams. Spain's Pau Gasol and Shane Battier (Memphis) have demonstrated in pre-season competition that they might justify the highest hopes. Others like Kwame Brown (Washington); Jamaal Tinsley (Indiana); Joe Johnson and Joseph Forte (Boston); Jason Richardson (Golden State); Speedy Claxton (Philadelphia); Russia's Andrei Kirilenko (Utah); Zach Randolph (Portland); Tony Parker (San Antonio) and Loren Woods (Minnesota) appear to have enough NBA level skills to get them significant playing time this season. Take special notice of them ... this is a very good crop of young talent.
Well to his defense Griffen has missed most of the preseason, and I think his assesments were made on preseason play thus far.
On top of overlooking the Rocket rookies, he also made a mistake = Speedy Claxton is not even a rookie he was just injured last year!
I don't care about all these BULLS. The Rockets will PLAY WELL to prove them dead wrong! I love being an underdog!
Dr Jack had clearly bumped his head on the peach basket one too many times in the'ol way-back machine... (i dunno why I winked)
Old Jack MeHoff - Doesn't have a clue what is going on. I never liked that walking penile implant anyways.
RocksMillenium put it the best (and in the most hilarious way) in a previous post he did: "Dr. Jack is a kindly old man, but he's half-way senile, and has this far off look in his eye. I take what he says with a grain of salt." "Dr Jack's problem is he'll ramble something out, and obviously forget what he said 2 minutes later. Dude is literally living off a championship he won over 20 years ago. He's knowledgeable, but then again if you can't remember 90% of the things you say what good is that knowledge? I love it when he calls the NBA on ESPN radio though. Whenever a player throws it down he screams out "One hand slamma!" or "Two hand slamma jamma!" Hilarious!" Funny a$$ $**t!
" Ron Poulus will win 3 Heisman trophies before he's done at Notre Dame" Beano Cook! Does anyone remeber this one after 1 game started by Poulus? After that statement , they got him the hell off the show. Predictions are, well predictions, take them for what they're worth, nothing.
Ramsay also metioned the impact players in the NBA this year. He seemed to have overlooked Steve Francis.
The same article puts Rudy in the upper echelon of coaches that are always in the running for Coach of the Year. I think the dude is a living a bit in the past, so that's why his list of players seems to match everyone else's. Actually, he sometimes has good analysis, and I swear everytime I've heard him talk about the Rockets, he's raved about Hakeem and Rudy. As for the new bunch.... Since the Rockets won 45 games last year, he needs another year before one of his assistants tells him this team is good... so look for him to mention Cat as a player to watch next year, AFTER he makes this year's All-Star Team as a reserve.
Can he be in the running for the rookie of the year award? If he can't, then he is an inexperienced player, but not a true rookie.
