said they talked to Van Gundy before the game. If anyone recorded the game, listen to the comments they make concerning the team. A lot of the stuff they said about the Rockets wasn't even about the game in front of them. I doubt they are going to say that Van Gundy told them all this stuff. However, my guess is all 4 of them had a lunch together before the game, and Van Gundy asked them for some peer advice. Doug Collins and Fratello are very smart basketball guys, and Marv Albert has seen a lot of basketball doing play-by-play for the Knicks. I've heard commentary before during a Rockets game, but these guys were going on as if they had watched the Rockets play all their games. I think Van Gundy is frustrated as heck, and he expressed this frustration to his TNT buddies.
Collins and Fratello are not getting back on defense and this is hurting Jim Jackson because he usually gets stuck, oh oh sorry.
Why do people continue to post the same identical messages on this board as they do on ESPN's board? Just curious.... Not trying to be rude.....
I thought they were dissing us all night. Poor shot selection etc. I do remember them saying something about "last year the Rockets learned to settle for the outside shot and can't break the habit now" and on the last play " I'm sure that is not what JVG wanted", or thereabouts. I agree with most of their statements. Those are two guys who know basketball. I seriously doubt they got their game info by paroting JVG.
You are a lot like Gregonomics but you respond to posts with sarcasm. Try to follow Greg's lead and grow-up
I liked how they commented that after each rebound JVG was frantically waving his arms to get them to RUN the ball up the court instead of walk it up. DD
I'm afraid that I was forced to agree wth them as well. One of their most damning observations about the Rockets was that: they (Rockets) did not see the floor well at all and that's what was leading to the poor passes and unforced turnovers. They also correctly observed that the Rockets continually lapse back into their old ISO style of play which is what gets them into trouble. Finally, they confirmed what I've maintained all along - that Rockets turnovers are providing opposing teams with the means to beat them.
Lightenup Francis, this is basketball. Anyway, actually I was going to make a post about some of their game comments in the game thread, but I thought that thing had gotten so long no one would see them. You could tell they were taking up for their peer the coach when discussing moving Francis or Mobley to the bench, which I thought was ridiculous. Either Francis or Mobley will be traded but neither will be moved to the bench at this point. They were fairly critical of Francis and I think some of it was genuine and some of it was taking up for their boy.
I agree. I felt they were taking JVG's back and I hope neither ever has to coach one of these Rox because players have long memories. (I, too, have watched JVG try to move SF up the court faster, get him to set up closer to the head of the key than 1/2 court line and have wondered when SF will be pulled until he responds as coach demands.)
