When a player gets injured, team pay him the salary or its the insurance? Thinking in Arenas' case... Thanks
Team pays him the salary regardless. That's the definition of a "guaranteed contract". The only difference is if the player is forced to retire due to injury, in that case the insurance picks up the bill. I'm not sure what happens when a player under contract decides to retire, but I would assume the contract would be null and void and the team won't have to pay him a cent. Then again, that would make me wonder why people who hate thier contracts don't retire then unretire and sign a new one Help from other poster would be appreciated
In Marbury's case, why give up all that money? In other cases, they probably give up the right to play for the rest of the season in the league...
