Is anyone else getting tired of double technicals as soon as something happens between two guys and double ejections when it's more serious than that, regardless of instigator, attacker or anything of that nature? How in the world was Bjelica or whatever ejected last night when all he did was protect himself from that idiot Afflalo who swung at him like a crazy person?!?

Why I think it's bad is you can easily exploit it by sending a goon or 13th man on the bench to start something, get the other guy a technical or a second one leading to ejection. This has been rarely used, but could easily be done with how things are called.

I have no problem with double technicals. They usually have the desired effect of chilling out two players. If one is an idiot, they will get a second tech at some point and an ejection. Double Ts are a proactive measure to cool players down before hostilities escalate.

The problem of punishing aggressors and not players who "actively" defend themselves is a tough one that may not be solvable.

I'm not worried about a theoretical goon problem developing. IMO, teams know Adam Silver would strike them with lightening if they tried it. NBA "enforcers" are mostly a thing of the past.

Don't see why Bjelica should have been ejected. He had someone take a swing at his face. Would expect him to protect himself in a situation like that

Yes, refs just dish them out lazily as they don’t pay enough attention to these things.
