Dorsey is better than Hill right now. He is a better athlete, better shotblocker, better rebounder and better defender. New York knows this and that is why they want this deal. They get out of an embarrassing Draft when they could of had Jennings and get Tmac and a Mac truck. They know this and that is why they are willing to throw in draft picks.

This such a good trade for the Knicks. Tmac is better than Jefferies and Harrigton and Dorsey will play significant minutes at the 5 for them. They will be better right now and they get to dump Jefferies salary and Hill's Salary so that will only have about 18 mil of salary remaining. Make no mistake they no what they are doing.

They would like to have Bosh and Lebron but realistically a team of David lee Lebron tmac Galinari and some trade fillers or smaller free agents could make them very competitve.

All that being said I still like the deal. Jeferies will become a sign and trade asset at the deadline that can be thrown in with some new draft picks or a young player for another asset that fits better and Al harrington might be better than anyone else we have right now. Hill is a project but he could turn into something better. And with all the extra pieces we will have now there is certainly a chance we could do a sign and trade with Toronto for Bosh including young talent and/or draft picks. We weren't going to get anything better for McGrady than this. And it shows Morey's ability to manage to pull a decent deal considering while Les was pissed at Tmac and didn't want him on the team.

So I would definitely pull the trigger if it includes harrington. And probably if it includes hughes.

I can almost assure the Knicks want to give us Hughes.

I like Dorsey, I really do. However, I think people are over rating him just....a tad. Even "if" Dorsey was better, it wouldn't be by much. Hill has more room to grow in my opinion, but only time will tell.

The Knicks do get quite a bit out of this deal.

Dorsey is also old enough to be Hill's uncle

Who cares if Dorsey is better now....it's irrelevant, he doesn't play on our squad and this is a move made looking forward not the present.

It's not like if hill doesn't going to work out we r really going to miss out. Dorsey isn't even getting min on a team with a lack of center talent.

I'd rather take the hill risk and get some draft picks!!! That's what the trade is about! That and being able to keep under the tax n resign our players! And the trade hasn't happened yet so calm Down ppl!

It never occurred to me that Dorsey was the key to this deal. But, I'm not one of them deep thinkers.

Jordan Hill's ceiling is way higher than Dorsey. Dorsey can only put it through the hoop within 10 feet. And no dice if he has to shoot FTs.

The real key is 1st rd draft picks, lottery or not sets up the Rockets nicely in the future in other deals. Even better if they are lotto picks

Sorry, would have edit this in my original post, but I don't see why people are worried a bit because the Knicks are actually getting something out of this. That's ok...there can be times where both teams just get what they want out of a trade. There's not always going to be a clear cut winner/loser in a certain deal.

Rockets get some cap relief, a young prospect, and draft picks all the while ending drama between Tracy and the team.

I'll be quite happy if this trade goes through.

... Because you prefer Dorsey over the 8th pick of the draft and 2 more 1st rounders. Really?

Yes he is older but Dorsey was better in College than Hill. And the one problem I have with Dorsey is he is definitely not the smartest cookie in the bag but my impression from Hill is he is missing a few chocolate chips too.

The thing about Hill is he has all of prototypical features you want in a big man. He is big and athletic but so far he hasn't been able to capitalize on those assets yeah he is young but not that young and on a young Knicks team he can't beat out Marcus Landry for minutes. That's a bad sign when you know management wants him to succeed so they don't look so stupid.

Arenas is better than Stephen Curry right now. But this not changes the fact that Stephen Curry will be better way off than Arenas in couple years, right ?

Jordan Hill is athletic, has size, shoots very wellfrom midrange and can rebound with good basketball iq. He's only 22 years old.

Dorsey was better ? Questionable to say the least.

He's 22....how is that not young ? He could still be in college this year if he wanted. He is still a raw talent.

uhh... if we pick up jeffries... that 7 extra mil on the books next season.. meaning we probably arent going to sign scola or lowry or both. why not just let tmac expire and have the OPTION of signing both or letting them go and have 13mil to sign a player?

Actually the Rockets get one 1st rounder, 1st round swap, possibly a second rounder this year. Not necessarily another 1st rounder, however I still like this deal.

Because more than likely Jeffries will be traded next season.

Dorsey has a better jumpshot than Hill and.....

    oh.

Fact is that Hill is halfway through his ROOKIE season and he happened to get on the court a heckuva lot more than Dorsey did in his rookie season (even in his second season).

To say Dorsey is better in any aspcet of the game is simply absurd (save perhaps for shotblocking).

Hill looks to be a 6'11 PF

    Dorsey is a 6'8 C

Dorsey might eventually pan out to be Michael Cage the 2nd - but even if he does, I wouldn't be upset to lose him for 2 first round picks (potentially a 2nd) and also Hill (who might eventually pan out to be something significantly better than Michael Cage).

I like Dorsey - but he'll never have a mid range jumper, and that determines his ceiling in the NBA.
