Now with the Olympics and all the hype around bball me and some of mine friends were discussing US team on our soccer forum :)

One guy had wrote that the first two 'dream teams' said that they would come to the Olympic games only if there would be no doping test for them. Does any of you know if this is true? And could be this also one reason that lots of star players didn’t came to Athens?

And also, how is it with the doping control in the NBA? Do they do any tests or they just close both eyes for the sake of the show?

the only "doping" that NBA players would even have are:

I've also thought alot about that. My friends hee in Sweden think so just because they've heard that doping are allowed in the nba,nhl etc... And I have a hard time defending this just because I've no clue about that so now I really would like to know how it is....

They do test for roids and other banned substances and suspend people on occasion for it.

Karl hasn't ever been suspended though.

Anyway, I don't see steroids being nearly as beneficial as in baseball, track, or football. Being able to shoot the ball "harder" isn't going to help too much.

If you're referring to actual blood doping, like taking EPO and stuff to increase your red blood cell count, I don't think they test for that; there's no reason too, the NBA isn't an endurance sport like cross country skiiing or cycling. Sure, it's not easy to play 40 minutes a game, but I'm not sure if the physiological benefits of EPO would make much of a difference in that regard
