if remotely true, should have been done 4 days ago. this is the ultimate "no-brainer." btw, jutsice's blog today referenced andruw jones being available. uhm... yes, please. burke, hirsh, pence, tim pupura's child....... if jones is really available, you dump the farm system top grab him. and then make the willis deal.
I love Jimerson, but with Luke Scott and Pence's emergence, someone's gotta go. You have to make the deal. As far as Jones is concerned, it ain't worth the cash. We're fine just how we are, considering Scott is waiting.
I think Troy Patton should do the trick.....I know everyone wants to stay pat with Patton, but what is the best case scenario for Troy? Dontrelle?
uhm.......... andruw jones is a year older than luke scott and coming off a 51 homer season. jimerson is a failed prospect - he's 27 and hasn't sniffed the major leagues. maybe jones is too rich - i'll buy that, but you don't not make that deal because of luke freaking scott, or charlton freaking jimerson.
i'm usually pretty patient with young talent..but i agree entirely. luke scott would not begin to even enter the same discussion as andruw jones. but andruw hates MMP.
So does Berkman, but he manages to do just fine here. Jones would probably have to sign an agreement that stipulates he can't badmouth the juice box. Drayton hates when you talk bad about his ball park. If we get Willis, we add an extra bat every fifth day!! Do you think Gar would bat him 7th in front of Everett and Ausmus?!?
Willis for Wandy and Jimerson? LOL. Whatever. If Purpura pulled that off he would be my hero. Wandy will always be a #4 or #5 pitcher and Jimerson will never make it to the majors. The Astros need to focus on adding a power hitting outfielder and reliever anyway. Like Ric said, Jones would be ideal, but I don't see Drayton paying that type of cash to Jones. Even with $45 million coming off the books next season with Clemens, Bagwell, and Pettite.
people love potential too much; it's a drug that impairs judgement. anyone miss john buck? john halama? carlos guillen? oscar henriquez? manuel barrios? mark johnson? pick our top three prospects and i'd trade them for andruw jones, no questions asked; no regrets. by 27, jones had 5 30-homer seasons, 6 gold gloves and three all-star appearences. he added one more of each when he hit 28. why does andruw jones hate MMP? i haven't heard that.
Uhhh, the Cubs would laugh at you if you offered Wandy and Charleton "about to set the minor league strikeout record" Jimerson for washed up Maddux. What the hell kind of writing is this? where have you read berkman hates MMP? i've heard him hate on the old stadiums, like wrigley...and talk about how great the new parks are with the nice amenities.
for what it's worth...i'd be super-happy with either willis or jones. maybe more so with willis because i think andy is gonna retire after this season.
Haven't heard him say he hates MMP but I've heard on 610 say he doesn't like the train and he wants to knock it off the tracks. It could have been a joke.
ah. i know he's hated in chicago for making fun of the all holy wrigley. but i haven't heard him say anything bad about playing at MMP. he's so fiercely proud of texas, i can't imagine he would.
