Stephen A. Smith said something that I think everybody on this board needs to realize... "Don't worry about the Rockets. They will still be playing in the postseason. What they should be concerned about is TMac's health". Even though I am not a huge fan of Smith, I thought this was one of the best comments anybody has ever saud about the rcokets. We wonder why JVG has Yao setting high screens at the top of the key, why he runs the offense like TMac is playing... That' the way he wants it. He knows this will benefit the Rockets greatly. JVG knows, changing the offense just becasue TMac isn't playing will hurt the team more than help it. What the Rockets need is chemistry. Head/Anderson are no Tmac, but the offense will be ready for Tmac when he gets back. Changing the offense will only complicate things becasue they will have to change it again. I don't think this team is bad after all. Most losses we have were games that we could easily win if TMac were on the court. I agree with the contention that the Rockets need a third scorer. But I don't think our team sucks. We just need to play smarter and make some good passes. Yao won't ever dominate, but 23 and 11 would be a good average for him. This Rockets team will be #2 in the West... Just remember.. I told you first!!!1
Stuff number 2, i wont to be Number 1 . btw, for once i have to agree with Smith. hopefully once tracy gets his back sorted out, we'll be balling again.
Do worry about the guards. They are not defending the arc all the time this year. Any team with good shooting guards torch the Rockets easily. I don't think the problem is with Yao. The guards play in a different rythem than late last year. T-MAC and Yao will improve each other when they played together and everyone will get more comfortable playing in that senario. Contested mid range jump shots should be banned in Rockets with the exception of TMAC. Too many forced shoots killed the rockets during last several games.
I do hope that what is happening right now will be good for the team in the long-run. It's really difficult for the role players right now especially the main man they are to compliment with isn't on court. We'll just have to be patient and hang on...
ummmm.....them are mvp numbers. It's kinda like hearing "rox won't ever dominate, but a 70-12 record will be good for them." Trade Yao when we still have a chance.
If you guys go on ESPN--there's an ESPN Motion commentary on the Rockets by Bill Walton. Its a little over 2 minutes long -nothing we haven't heard before but a few insightful thoughts. Its titled "Rockets Hardly Living Up To Expectations" (Go on the ESPN NBA page-click on ESPN Motion and scroll down - or just pick one of the "Highlights" links and the menu will pop up )
