Utah averages 24.02 fouls a game this season, #1 in the NBA. Rockets average 19.62, #25 in fouls committed in the NBA.

    Foul Information:
    Game 1. Rockets: 18. Jazz: 23.
    Game 2. Rockets: 19. Jazz: 20.
    Game 3. Rockets: 26. Jazz: 24.
    Game 4. Rockets: 25. Jazz: 22.

Rockets, averaging: 22 fouls per game.
Jazz, averaging: 22.25 fouls per game.

For a crazy physical team as the Sloan Jazz, they are only averaging .25 more fouls than the Rockets? They average 24.02 fouls a game this entire season, and they are down 1.77 in the playoffs? Whereas the Rockets are up 2.32 fouls a game. Clearly something is wrong with this picture.

How many FTs have we missed on the fouls that have been called? And how do those misses correlate with the point deficit in the losses?

we got away with a few none calls that led to buckets, when tmac double dribbled after he bounced the ball off his foot, and Landry goal-tended there at the end... OT:the 2 threes by Battier & Skip were incredible.... good night im sleepy....

Landry probably put back Jackson's miss when it was in the cylinder. It was not called.

Refs miss calls. But it probably goes both ways. If you go to Jazz boards, they complain about the refs too.

Has it ever occurred to people that why fans from both teams complain about the refs? What gives? It is because the fans are the most biased observers out there. They are not impartial because they are "fans".

    I totally agree.

All the Rockets fans in here blaming these losses on the refs are not seeing reality.

I am a Rockets fan, too, but I am not putting it on the refs. Over a 7-game series, it is extremely rare that the referees decide the winner.

The Rockets are simply playing a bigger and better basketball team.

By the way, thanks for this thread. It is good to use numbers to dispel myths.

Both teams get bad calls--I just wish the refs could be more consistent.

I think Utah does a better job executing overall. I am not going to blame the Refs. Calls go both ways, except our eyes are trained only to focus on the plays against the Rockets. Free throws and rebounding is what lost games 1 and 3.

    Can't fault the effort though.

    Forget fouls...

Korver out of bounds, should be loss of possession.

Okur knocks ball out, should be loss of possession... Landry was fouled harder earlier by Boozer... and Okur "slipped" between three Rockets to make contact... it's also under 90 seconds when they are supposedly "letting them play."

Fouls or no, the ball should be in Houston's hands, down 2... TWICE.

Even if you give Utah the "in the cylinder dunk" by Carl, and you're down 4, if you have it twice on turnovers, as it should be... then well...

    Oh who cares.

Let's win game 5... then worry about 6.

    7 can be at home.

you mean we got screwed by refs because of not putting us there much or putting us at the FT too much?

Co-sign the Dallas Mavericks' win over the Rockets in the 2005 playoffs.

Notarized by Michael Finley (from out of bounds)

If we established a more physical style from the beginning, then being physical wouldn't be deviating from the norm.

That's what the Jazz do. They establish the norm, then abuse it.

Rockets blow way too many easy shots, 2nd chance opportunities, miss too many FTs, seldom hit their 3s anymore, and players are undersized. To put it on the refs is just dumb. Without another big man like Yao they are doomed, no chance to get out of 1st round.

Considering you claim to be impartial, such fans must not be as rare as you think

Is that the complete list of known blown calls on both sides?

I guess you are right - who cares. We only have to win 3 straight, not 22.

It still seems like this is the most physical first round series of them all - and the most fun to watch for an impartial fan as well as us and Utah.
