both Denver and the Knicks are 4 games out of the lottery. Knicks in Philly tonight. Chandler not starting. Denver in Utah against a beat up Jazz team but Denver not playing well. Are we going to watch both teams slide into the lottery or close to the lottery by the trade deadline? And if so, doesn't this make the value of our pick swap with NY go through the roof? Does it make a trade for Melo more paletable to Denver if we acquire another low level first rounder either this season or next season so we can throw the 2011 pick swap at Denver for Melo?
The Knicks will make the playoffs. Anything is possible, but I don't see the Pacers or Bucks picking up the pace enough to catch them.
I think the Knicks could fall off the playoff race. The new coach in Indiana is finally playing Hibbert significant minutes and the Bucks will make it once Brandon Jennings comes to form. Hell, even Philly, with Iggy back from achilles injury can surpass the Knicks. Damntoni is a terrible coach and he is overplaying Amare and Felton. I don't think one of them will last the end of the season. Amare is already playing on a sprained knee, an injury that cost Dirk 2 weeks to sit out.
The crazy thing is, if the Rockets pick up their game, and the Knicks keep hovering around .500, Houston could end up having a better record than NY but Houston would still be in the lottery and NY in the playoffs (#6 seed). This is the difference between being in the East and being in the West.
I think both Utah and Denver have a good shot at not making the playoffs instead Memphis, PHX and Portland would be my picks right now at 6, 7 and 8.
If the Knicks get Carmelo, there is no way they miss the playoffs. Even if Amare gets injured, Carmelo could still carry them.
Rockets have a better chance than the Grizz to make the playoffs because we currently hold the tie breaker, I believe. I still think we make it as the 7th seed, praying that we face the Lakers or Mavs in the 1st round.
Well, there's one. I think Indy, unless Bird changes his mind and unloads Granger, is going to make a serious push into the playoffs. And as Captain Jack already stated, D'Antoni is running his team into the ground. One tweak to either Amare or Felton and they are D-U-N done. As a matter of fact, any injury that causes any of Felton, Amare, Galinari,or Chandler ot miss any significant time is going to practically doom the Knicks to the lottery. So, how about if both we and the Knicks miss the playoffs? That means we've got two shots at getting into the top 3 in the lottery. Now, if we could make another trade, say sending Scola to New Jersey and get the right to switch first round picks with them, then would have basically 3 of the 14 lottery balls to possibly land the #1 pick.
Sorry dude, I know your a believer in the Rox but I don't trust them to win the necessary games to make a serious push. To many things need to go right for them to get in, starting with winning vs +.500 teams and I just don't see it happening. A win tomorrow would at least put them back in the conversation but a loss and it should be time for management to consider a new course of action. Memphis would have a better division and conference record and split the season series with us, if they can win tomorrow, and considering their recent play it will be a tough game for the Rox.
Grizzlies have a better chance than the Rockets of making the playoffs, because they are 4 games ahead. Rockets have more to worry about than the Grizzlies. Rockets have to beat out Suns, Trailblazers and Grizzlies to get a playoff spot.
