I was listening to Johnathan Feigan on Mark Vandermere this morning, and he indicated we should expect little change this offseason.

MCE or vet minimum only.

Veteran guard help (backup level) - mentioned Jon Berry. paraphrase quote - "our two guys play too many minutes."
Not breaking up the backcourt and moving steve to the two.

Cat only moves for "something better." Basically, tweak.

Not expecting much at 4. "If Karl or Alonzo want to play for MCE, not more". Hmph - not likely.

He was generally downbeat.

So was I after hearing this.

I can't see opening the arena on such a downer. Here come the perennial losers, with more loser ball! Everybody buy tickets!

same players, same coach, same narrow offense, same lack of chemistry = same results.

sounds like les is giving this core one more shot, but it's a waste of time IMO. I can only hope some more significant moves are in store...i don't know if i can take another season of the way this team plays.

= same results

Thanks for the update.

But, to me that is good news. I think tthis team should be given a chance. We have the talent. We need the experience.

If we arent making significant changes to the players.. i hope we have something up our sleeves in the offense.

I am with you, let them play another year. That's how chemistry can build w/ our players.

Like I said, the lottery is a much more likely destination for this team next season than the playoffs. I hope Les enjoys a half-empty new arena, cuz nobody wants to pay good money to watch another year of this ISO crap, especially now that the novelty factor with Yao has worn off.

Then expect to die! But still hope for Heaven! If this is realy the case and I expected it to be after Les previously gave his downer statement, then we can expect much of the same as last season. A thaught just came into the back of my mind and it brought some joy.( The Rockets are not that dumb) Surely this is Rockets psychology they must not appear as though they want to trade, they want others to think that they know, but not realy know, that they are desperate! They want enquiries and offers and then they will show their true face and make the required moves.
On the otherhand Les might not be bold enough to make the financial commitment required to bring in the likes of Brand,Arenas,Odom or Miller. After all he is highly concerned about filling the NEW ARENA, yet he doesnt realise, if we have more of the same, then the paying customers( not Fans) will stop going and watch on TV. and he will loose more money. Then next year (04) there will be wholesale changes (a fire sale) from the Complete Management, Coaching and Players. The very idea that Jon Berry would solve our Guard situation makes me think that they are walking arround with Rose Colored Glasses. What I realy hope is that we are still in bed and dreaming all of this.:p

Im not going to watch another frustrating season like I had to endure this year.....

The ups and downs we as fans were put through this season is enough to give someone a heart attack. Scrap the team except for Yao, or get someone who can light a fire under the asses of these guys. At the very least, bring someone in who can design an offense that runs through Yao, or uses X's and O's.

Im not going to be excited about watching our team play next year if we stand pat period.

folks, our team is not that bad. Even if we make small adjustments, like get a vet pg, move steve to the 2, move cat as a sixth man, and start Mo while letting EG play off the bench, we will be contenders for the playoffs. Our holes can be filled during the trading deadline. People, its not like we are a championship team yet, and its not like if we dont fill our holes this very offseason, we will never win again......have some faith in Yao and Steve.

Feigan is the one who alerted all to the JPo deal? No. Because for a beat writer Jonathon, or howsoever he spells his name, is either poor at what he does by not being 'connected' or is quite connected but cannot say what he knows. In the least JF is not into heavy rumormongering, assuming he even hears any.

JF may be the most vanilla major sport beat writer in any major sport town in the USofA!

Jon Barry...The Rockets still need a backup two..this season the only capable backup was Posey..if Posey stays.. hes the starting 3 and cant back up the 2. Barry is a free agent 10yr vet who plays for minimum money and gives maximum effort.

mm, Yetti, first u have to make the playoffs, which i said we will definitely be contenders for. Let me rephrase that, we should make the playoffs next year, even w/ minor adjustments. Once we get there, and get experience, we will be contenders for a lot more soon. You dont become contenders for a championship right away u know.

Give us some time; it's still only the beginning of the offseason. By preseason, we'll be lamenting how Denver was better than us.

Wasn't that the gameplan heading into LAST SEASON? Rudy was getting everyone back who'd missed significant time in the 2001-2002 season, the younger players on the team were a year older and presumably better, and they were adding the #1 pick in the draft in Yao Ming.

So what happens when things don't go according to plan next year? What excuse will the fans and media make for Rudy and the players? Will the "making the playoffs and gaining experience" plan be pushed back yet another year?

Why?

Who among the playoff teams promises to fall backwards? Utah? Maybe. Minn? Ask KG.

IF there are two fall offs, IF two are relegated...
THEN, who moves up? Why not Golden Stae (Arenas goes, but Dunleavy for JWill -- why not?)? Why not Seattle? They lose no o ne, get a lotto pick, have some cap space. Why not Memphis? Denver? With three lotto picks and plenty of room to add two FAs. The Clips have the talent to run wild, their mental is their 'only' question (and mental pretty much is Sterling-driven).

So, maybe one or two fall back. Maybe the Rox move forward. or maybe any/all of the others do.

THIS Rox team could be going for next year's Yao/Labron. That is a scary thought.
