Compare Eddie Griffin & Kevin Garnett because they have similar frames(6'11" 220lbs to 6'9" 220lbs), play similar positions and have a similar game. Garnett's first year, while as a starter for 77 games, he averaged 17 ppg and 8 rpg in 38.9 mpg while shooting a cool 50% from the field. He also had 2.12 bpg, 3.1 apg and 1.36 spg. While it's highly unlikely that Griffin will achieve such lofty numbers, I think you can count on him getting more minutes per game than Kobe did his first season(15.5) and more output. ------------------ Anger is a weed. What about comparing Langhi to Kobe? ------------------ "For there is nothing either good or bad, thinking makes it so." - William Shakespeare (1564-1616), Hamlet
I could see Eddie Griffin get around 20 to 30 mins a night. I don't really see him as a scorer on the team in his first year with Franchise and Cat at guards and mo and dream up front, but in the future yes. And with all the depth at sf and pf now he would not have to be a major contributor at this point, he can just adjust gradually. Maybe more like how Darius Miles did last year. One more thing that I like that I seen of griffin on the court is that he is really supportive of the players. He high fives or bump hands almost when ever play stops. Even when a player looses the ball or takes a hard shot being doubled(even when EG is calling for it when he's open and the player takes the shot anyway) EG gives them a hit in the hand to tell them that's ok or good job. Very positive. ------------------ [This message has been edited by LA's #1 Rocket Fan (edited July 14, 2001).]
so far everyone is comparing griffen to duncan in his demeaner and style of play. but cause u said so i wont compare griffen to kobe. oh wait... 1. they both are black 2. they both are men 3. they both play basketball 4. they both think pink floyd is not an overated band 5. they both think wendys chicken nuggets are the shiznits ------------------ i just wasted a couple seconds of your life while u read my post...this one is a bonus...
Eddie Griffin played one year of college ball. Comparing him to high schoolers is an inherently flawed process. ------------------ It was the time of the preacher, in the year of '01 Now the preachin' is over, and the lessons begun . . .
Indeed! ------------------ Rarely is the question asked: Guns kill squirrels than REDRUM to fools across the nation?
Exactly! People think of Griffin as a high schooler when in fact he was a 1 year college player like Stephon Marbury, at a big time school, in a big time college in the Big East playing one of the tougher schedules in the country. He'll play more minutes then Kobe did and have a better, more defined role then Kobe had. ------------------ "Instruments are like women: After a while, you want to make love to another." - Nicolas Godin of the musical duo Air
sweet i have a lot in common with these guys too. Man that is cool. but what does mcD's think about kobe eatin at Wendys. this is so wrong to even try and compare the two. for one Kobe had eddie in front of him his first year, greatly affecting his pt. Also Kobe was on a team that did not need his services right away allowing him to take his time and progress. I dont think griffin will dominate on offense but I do think he will be awsome at doing all the little things like d rebounds blocks and learning the system ------------------
