Basketball News: Another player who has turned heads (along with El-Amin) early was Florida's Donnell Harvey. The freshman jumped the Gators' ship and into the NBA draft, and early returns indicate that it was a good move. Harvey showed a lot of quickness, he was jumping out of the gym, and his shot-blocking ability was one of the surprises in the first day. One knock on the wunderkind is his size. At 6-7, he's not vertically challenged, but he should ask El-Amin what he did with all his bulk. Harvey is rail-thin, but at just 19 years old, he has plenty of time to develop. If he keeps up his pace, Harvey will be a very happy man come draft night. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Do you think the Rockets would select Harvey at 38. whatever happened to Mario Austin did he even come out. ------------------
Donnell Harvey is not going to last that long. And who the hell cares about Mario Austin. He might have been the 20th best player in high school. And that's about it. ------------------
Harvey was really one of the only players I liked for Florida this past season. I thought Miller was a little punk and still do but will change my opinion undoubtedly IF we draft him. But I liked Harvey's game all season. What about his big man partner, Udonis. ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. Not screaming like the passengers in the back seat!
Donnell Harvey may be the dark horse pick for the Rockets at #9. Being the best incoming freshman of your class and playing very solidly your entire freshman year bodes very well for Donnell. He may even be quicker to reach his potential than Darius Miles. Besides, the Rockets can't have too many players with a great work ethic. Does anybody think Donnell won't have a 10+ year NBA career? Can the same be said for Moiso or even Miles? nuff said. ------------------
Harvey could be had with a pick in the 20s.... ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
When I saw Donnell playing in college, I knew the guy would a good pro. I can't say the same about his teammate Miller. For Miller, I saw a great college and a good pro, but not ever a first tier NBA player. Donnell may have the goods to be a first tier player. Thinking also about the high schoolers in the draft, how do we or the Rocks know the type of player they will become. Dominating in high school means absolutely nothing. Judging off the McDonalds HS allstar game is also very risky, since it is a pick up game and only the one game. Seeing Darius have a great vertical and "play great D" by blocking shots is not enough game for me to see him going as a lottery pick. Now if he went to Florida, played great for his entire freshmen year, and helped his team into the championship game, then I would think differently. I would not at all be disappointed if the Rocks picked Donnell. He is going to be a very good player and he is more of a sure thing than Miller, Miles or Moiso (what is the deal with the Ms). ------------------
Based on the recent reports on Harvey, I've moved him up to the 13th pick in the lottery going to Orlando at present. Maybe I should bump him up to 9. What say you? May be a turbo Otis Thorpe. ------------------ There are 3 kinds of people: those who can count and those who can't.
Harvey has been impressive in Chicago with his hustle and rebounding. But his jumper is still a danger to innocent bystanders. I was more impressed with Udonis Haslem though, but Harvey's potential should move him up into the high teens. I hope the Rockets don't take him at #9. ------------------ Drop kick me Jesus through the goalposts of life, Tumble end over end, neither left nor right. Straight on ahead through the goalposts I'll go. I've got the faith Lord, If you've got the toe.
I really like Harvey's potential, work ethic, determination etc. a whole lot. Right now I have him pencilled in at 20 in my mock draft as I dont think Larry Brown is going to pass on someone like that. Brown is in love with those types of players that play the game hard and hustle. Personally, I know this is going to receive a lot of negative response, but I would trade Kenny Thomas straight across the board to get Donnell Harvey. I would trade KT for the 18th overall pick to the Clippers or the 15th overall to the Bucks to land Harvey. If the Rockets came out with Jerome Moiso at 9 and then Harvey at 15 or 18, the future of the frontcourt would be in excellent shape. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
Rockets need more white punks! MManal, Ill give you a negative response: How dare you suggest trading KT? KT is awesome. hmmm, that wasnt very negative, how bout this: Harvey is a short loser*. Okay thats better * I am jusst kidding. ------------------ I have a special purpose.
