I set the filter to players who play at least 20 minutes per game, and have at least 5 opponent field goal attempts at the rim per game.

Why is Marc Gasol so low on the list?

Because he's not a shot blocker (and neither is zbo), he tries to contain further out, benefiting from Allen, Conley and Lee, he doesn't really deter players from trying shots at the rim (so while players might be inclined to kick it out rather than take on dwight, they just go at gasol if they get there, lol).

Well he's 17th which is still pretty high up. The list is way longer... I just took a screenshot of the top of the list.

I just loves how D-mo shows on pretty much all guard penetration without committing so much that he can't get back to his man. I wonder how it will work against good stretch 4's. I guess it worked pretty well against Dallas so that is a good sign.

DeMarcus Cousins: 23.5 PPG, 12.6 RPG, 1.5 BPG, 1.1 SPG

Omer Asik: 7.9 PPG, 10.4 RPG, 0.9 BPG, 0.5 SPG

Marc Gasol: 19.8 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 1.6 BPG, 1.1 SPG

Cousins is really really good . . .

Cousins is a marginally better rim protector than DMo, but Motiejunas is a better defender everywhere else on the floor.

Id be interested to see the true shooting at the rim. Howard and Dmo do foul at a higher rate than average

Why even post a stat like this when Anthony Davis doesn't make the list? That's a pretty good sign that the stat is flawed.

With Asik on the floor Davis is not defending the opposing center or the rim & in general being a help / weakside defender on the majority of those opponent attempts so he wont have the opponent attempts to qualify.
Compare his role to T.Jones alongside Howard .... Its Howard who gets those defensive assignments & Jones coming as a help defender.

Positioning and not shot blocking is most important to successfully defend at the rim

I think a better question is why didn't he make the list? He's a great shot blocker but how good is his post defense when he is not blocking shots? I don't watch enough NO games to know the answer to that but almost everyone on that list has a reputation as a good post defender (with only a couple of exceptions).

    Davis is on the list.

OP just cut it off before Davis named showed up. Davis is in the 50's for OPP FG%

Correct. This isn't the full list... I should have said that in my OP.

I just took a screenshot of the first 20 or so.
