Just in time for the new Kid Rock line of pro Trump t-shirts! Y'all have to see them. They're too good.

Mahatma Gandhi in 1930, Martin Luther King Jr in 1963.

    What's your point?

His point is that this is not some award or prize. It just simply is for the most influential person of that year, and I don't think there is any denying that Trump was the most influential person this year, hate him or not.

It's been said that if you listen to "bawitdaba" closely Mr. Rock can actually be heard singing "Build it, da' wall"

I don't think that was his intent in hand picking only a facist and nazi and grouping them with Trump.

I think we're both right? It's his response to Dei's (who is a known Trump supporter) bragadocious OP and trying to put him down a peg.

This. They pick the person who is "most influential." Hitler definitely deserved it. So did Stalin and Gandhi and King and Obama. Trump is the obvious choice. He turned the country upside down.

I just want to add that your explanation is a good post and I agree completely with your view.

Doing a little reading earlier I found it interesting that following the backlash over Khomeini in '79 they said they'd no longer pick anyone too controversial/disliked. Thus Rudy G. in '01 instead of Osama.

Time has long said that their person of the year isn't always the most popular, nor even a good person - but the most influential/impactful person of the year. In that regard, Trump clearly fits the bill. As did all of the bad people of the past that were it too.

So I wonder who would have won the influential person of the year if Trump didn't get elected?
