Rick Adelman's signature high octane offense VS JVG guaranteed scoring droughts (yet top 3 defenses) was a drastic change. A Nelson-JVG change could potentially destroy the universe.

So let me get this straight, coach goes 42-40 for the year, only get into the playoffs because they played the mavs bench the last game of the year. Then his team gets hot and beats the Mavs and loose in the second round. All of a sudden coach needs a raise. You can call me old fashioned, but if you signed a three year contract, you should honor the contract. You shouldn't get to change the contract because you won some games. THATS WHAT THE FIRST CONTRACT WAS FOR. All of a sudden your team has one great series and you deserve more money. . . . . . sorry, I don't like it. This is what bothers me about professional sports.

    Getting off soap box now.

True, this does happen in sports a lot. And the bad thing is if a player gets crappy you still have to honor the contract, at least in the NBA you do. But in all seriousness Nelson probably does deserve a raise, maybe not to 5 million but 4 is reasonable. He did beat the number 1 seed after all.

Agreed with you but in this case he did beat the no.1 seed in the playoff where it counts. Thats a great performance and they achieved results. Just in any other work place, you should be rewarded a bit more for the extra achievement. But yeah, that's a lot to ask.

If you can get your boss to pay you more than what you are worth, then that's your boss's problem, not yours.

That said, Don Nelson seems to have a track record of getting into money issues with his boss.
