i'm a huge fan of Bucky Fuller. there's a book containing a compilation of his speaches/lectures from the 40s-60s titled "Utopia or Oblivion" that sheds an amazing light on his perspective on the potentiality of the human condition within the confines of our earthen environment.

there has to be an alternative to wood frame and brick houses or metal trailers. it seems like a prefabricated steel frame house could be better than wood and brick if it was done right. do they make nice houses that are pre-fab or are they all junky mobile homes?

Domed homes have been around, like, forever. Bucky Fuller (LOL... "Bucky! Bucky Balls!") certainly was a catalyst, but you might be surprised by the influence of The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings. I remember them being built back in the '60's. I always thought the coolest ones were those patterned after Tolkien's Hobbit dwelling, being partially covered with earth (an excellent insulator), and having round windows and round doors. Man, they were groovy!

Wonder if any of those are still around?

Meanwhile, back at the Legion of Doom, Scarecrow and Cheetah plot their next sinister dome re-decorating plans...

these domed homes, however, are of the geodesic variety that were invented by bucky fuller in the 1940s.

pardon me, "but it was Fuller that exploited, patented, and developed the idea."

Few things in life crack me up more than the thought of living in a dome home.

I know, and the one's in the first link look really cool, very futuristic, which I find appealing. I can easily imagine living in one. I was just pointing out that there were other types of "domed homes," over the years. Hard to believe the '60's were 40+ years ago. Sometimes, it feels like yesterday, and then I look in a mirror. :(

That dome looks like The Legion of Doom from the Super Friends. I know someone here can find a pic of it.
