Yikes... staying then I take it? Be safe... board up, tape up... get some water and canned goods STAT! Or drive out now.
TS/Cat 1? Maybe boards...and a little barbq. I'm prepared, but not too concerned...thanks for the concern though. Anyone else here from the valley?
I'm in Edinburg, so yeah, I'll be feeling it too. Fingers crossed that it's puny. I'll actually be going to the store sometime this morning.
She's really slowing down and looking like she's going more on a WNW path right now. Not good. Winds also now at 74mph. I'll bet she's a cat 2 by the time she hits land and I'm also betting on a landfall north of Brownsville. Have fun and stay safe, kiddos.
allison was a unique set of circumstances like katrina, mainly there was an incredible amount of construction going on in the houton area which really prevented alot of the drainage systems, natural and man made from performing, and secondly, people don't remember but there was flooding in houston that week, allison hit on a friday night, and there had been major flooding in houston from the tuesday onward. I remember before allison hit, all these new homeowners along braes bayou were particularly hit hard before allison.
Even more unique than that...the system hit us twice. It made landfall...moved up to Oklahoma...and moved right back down and just sat on us. From what I'm hearing, Dolly is a rainmaker...more of a wet storm than a windy one. The feeder bands extend all the way up the upper Texas coast, it looks like.
I might board up if in the rain if the need arises. BUT, I do have my ribs, fajitas, and chicken marinading for tomorrow's barbq. It was supposed to be here at noon tomorrow, but now it looks like daybreak.
My 18 year old son is on a church mission trip to Reynosa to build a house this week. They are staying in McAllen at night and travel across the border to work during the day. The current plan calls for them to stay in McAllen on Wed. and try and finish work on Thursday and Friday. I have a feeling the rain will wash out their plans.
What are all those boundary lines in Mexico? Do they have provinces or states or something? Forgive me, American public school taught me none of those things.
Looking on radar loop...it appears those feeder bands extend all the way east to just south of NOLA. Looks like a fairly significant rain event is in Houston's future. to me. I'm good with that and so is my yard!
