Got a 4 1/2 month old puppy (lab, boston terrier mix). She literally was digging through our cats litter box looking for cat ****. I told her to get out of there. Moments later I pick her up because she has something in her mouth - sure enough there was a piece of cat **** in her mouth... (BARF!)

Why the hell is she doing this?

    Anyone heard of this before?

Dogs typically like to eat sh*t, be it cat or other dogs even. I don't know why they do it, but supposedly you have to stop them because it can give them worms.

Yeah, my dog has always loved that. You're going to have to keep the box somewhere where she can't get to it.

I found this funny - "I told her to get out of there."

    i'm not a pet lover.

you can add this to the list of why i don't like pets.

i never clicked on the Cats thread. I didn't know if it was about the house pet or the musical, and was too lazy to find out, but that thread has gone on a long time, and i heard some crazy things have gone in there.

My puppy used to go out in the backyard and chew on dog **** like it was beef jerky. Her breath was NASTY!

She grew out of it though, after a little persuasion.

Cat crap = Doggie treats. I don't know why but they love it.

I had a problem with my dogs eating poop. My vet told me to put regular MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) which you can get at the grocery store (Accent). It makes their poop not too tasty. Ever since I did that, it stopped them from eating.

So weird.... worst smell ever. I gagged.....

She also eats the cat food too, which in turn gives her the worst gas in the entire world....

Yeah, I have a dog that eats the cat's food and a cat that eats the dogs food. Tried separating them but they don't eat their own food.

I once saw my brother's cat take a crap on my neice's bed and then turn right around and eat it.

Hey, at least I didn't have to clean it up.

Jules Winnfield: Pigs are filthy animals. I don't eat filthy animals.

Vincent Vega: Yeah but bacon tastes good. Pork chops taste good.

Jules Winnfield: Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I'd never know 'cause I wouldn't eat the filthy mother-fu**ers. Pigs sleep and root in sh**. That's a filthy animal. I ain't eating nothing that ain't got sense enough to disregard his own feces.

Vincent Vega: How 'bout a dog? Dog eats his own feces.

Jules Winnfield: I don't eat dog either.

Vincent Vega: Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal?

Jules Winnfield: I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy, but they definitely dirty. But, dog's got personality; personality goes a long way.

Vincent Vega: Ahh, so by that rational, if a pig had a better personality, he would cease to be a filthy animal. Is that true?

Jules Winnfield: Well, we'd have to be talking one charming mother-fu**ing pig.

    My brothers dog does it.

We refer to the litter box as the snack box.

i seriously wonder if bad smelling things to us smell good to them. like if my dog kills a cockroach he will roll all over it like he is rolling in cologne.

about the crap eating...my dog did it 1 time and it was the single most disgusting crap i have ever seen him take. i seriously wanted to throw up when i saw it.

there are a few reasons the puppy might be doing this.

anxiety - maybe she doesn't have a set schedule...maybe you have not established yourself as her master, and therefore she doens't know what to do without a "alpha dog"...

    boredom - she's just bored

psychological - some dogs just have mental issues.

in any case, bring her to the vet and get that checked out. It's a disgusting habit and very unhealthy as well.

Dogs roll in Smelly thing to hide their own smell. Wolves do this so they can aproach a prey without alarming them. A dog that rolls on smelly things just want to camouflage their scent.
