My dog kept eating a ton of these seeds and now he's been vomiting, I need help knowing the name of this plant to know if he took in something toxic. The seeds themselves are soft, and when you squish them, red blood like stuff comes out. This plant is a Shrub in my backyard, I'm probably going to have to chop it down tomorrow.

I'm not very knowledgeable in stuff like this, but what part of the country are you in? Houston?

Constantly vomiting? Take it to the vet if not getting better, otherwise it's a bit of a gamble.

We have a new Labradoodle puppy that "discovered" plants and proceeded to try and eat every house plant we've got, even the ones we had on our back patio. She was acting sorta weird, so we checked and it turned out that 2 or 3 of them were toxic. Now they are all in a spare room (as if we have any room to spare!) Thankfully, we didn't have anything growing from the ground in our backyard except live oaks. I can't recall the name of that bush, but years ago someone told me that those berries are very toxic, and I've never forgotten it. It was when our kids were little. Stop your dog from eating that stuff and check with your vet. Bring a small branch with the berries on it, along with your dog, and get the real scoop. Good luck!

That is scary. Thankfully my german shorthaired is more fascinated with our miniature American flags planted in our flower plots. Damn terrorist I tell you. For people starting out with dogs, do not get German Short Haired Pointers. They are absolutely crazy and will eat anything and everything that they can find.

Take your dog to the vet, if it is throwing up, it is probably toxic.

You never know what a dog will do. If they're a puppy, they usually grow out of it, but I don't know about those Germans! ;-)-

We love our new Labradoodle. I had one that I got at the pound for $10 bucks in 1971, when no one knew there was a dog that doesn't shed, doesn't "smell like a dog," is hypoallergenic (which many of them are) and is smart as hell. Easily the best dog I've ever had, and this female pup reminds me of him everyday. I may have lucked out again. :)-

He still will do simple tricks for treats...

My parents have one, and they claim it is the best dog they have(not saying much as Huskies do whatever they want) ever had. I don't think you are lucky, but just picked the right dog breed!!

In all seriousness, they are incredible. The black Labradoodle I had back in the day learned a trick in an afternoon, didn't forget it, and would perform it on command. He learned numerous tricks and loved to perform at parties. And he was a chick magnet. He'd go up to the best looking girls at a party, sit in front of them, raise his right paw and place it on their knee, gazing at them silently with his caramel colored eyes. Girls came up to me carrying on about "That dog over there! Did you see him? He's amazing!" I'd smile and say, "Oh, The Wonder Dog? (I used his real name, TWD being a nickname, and he had so many friends that if I used it here, I might as well use my real name) He's mine. Let me tell you about his adventures!" I still carry a debt to that dog for numerous evenings of immense pleasure. I'm not kidding, either.

I'm almost certain that is Yaupon Holly, although the berries are a little off-color. If you'll noticed the same wavy edge to all of the leaves.

Here's another image of just the leaves -

Dogs are resiliant. I wouldn't worry. I've seen dogs eat aluminum cans and be totally alright.

Take it to the vet. Don't procrastinate. My fathers dog, a labradoodle ha, had a few wierd problems a few months ago and they waited it out. On a Friday night a few weeks later, after everything had seemed to be ok, he found her crying unable to walk. Had no choice but to take her to an ER veterinary clinic. $3,000 later she's ok, but it could have been avoided by getting her to a vet sooner.
