Dog Busts Owner on mar1juana Charge

GRAPEVINE, Texas - The owner of J.D. the Labrador may be wishing his dog weren't such a good retriever. Matthew Porter and two friends were playing Frisbee golf in a park Monday when a police officer who thought he smelled burning mar1juana began questioning them.

As the officer was checking for outstanding warrants, J.D. waded into a nearby creek and emerged with a plastic bag containing the drug.

Porter, 25, was charged with possessing drug paraphernalia. Micah Hays, 24, was charged with mar1juana possession. J.D. was turned over to the third person at the park, who faces no charges.

J.D. also faces no charges, but may have a new job opportunity.

"People have been asking if we're going to recruit the dog for police work," said Grapevine police Sgt. Todd Dearing.

    He should have said

"Oh, thats why he's been eating so much. As much as it hurts me to live with a felon, I think you should lock him up."

"Oh, but you may want to walk him first, he's not good with toilets"

as long as those guys didnt admit to it being theirs than a decent lawyer should be able to get the possession charge dropped. just cause his dog grabs some doobie out of the woods doesnt mean that it was his...at least thats what i would have said.

    never admit to anything!

100% correct. the officer cant just arrest people based on his assumption for something like that. he cant prove it was theirs.

Exactly. I went with some friends to play back in Alabama and every time we rounded a corner in the wooded trail, people were in the midst of trying to hide a doobie or pipe. It's a lot of fun, though.
