Doesn't this remind you of Mark Jackson when Jordan came to town?

49ers Head Coach: Didn't Allow Wives, Children Of Coaches To Attend Game In Oakland Because Of "Vulgar, Brutal" Raider Fans

LOS ANGELES - San Francisco 49ers coach Steve Mariucci ripped into Oakland Raider fans on KMPC-AM's Chris Myers and Bob Golic Show on Monday afternoon. Mariucci coached the 49ers to a 23-20 overtime victory in Oakland on Sunday.

For those without audio, here's the highlights of Mooch's barbs: "It's gotten worse. Get used it, I don't see it changing over there. They're (Raider fans) brutal, vulgar, they're off the charts. They're talking about your wife, your kids, your manhood and everything else and they get personal. They get crazy and they're rowdy before, after and during the game. It's just a costume party.

"I understand now why they (Oakland) don't sell out all the time because there are some people that simply won't go to those games because of the behavior in the stands.

"(49ers Center) Jeremy Newberry's father got hit in the head with a beer bottle. That's what goes on over there ... I asked my coaches to keep their wives and children at home and watch the game on television."

The behavior of Raider fans is a product of the NFL's TV coverage. Everytime we see Raider highlights, you always get a shot of the zoo-like *atmosphere* in the stands. It's right out of Mad Max's Thunderdome. And it only further encourages aberrant behavior.
