Does warranty from a used GM vehicle from the 2007 models have their warranty

    Specifically does it transfer? I know that GM extends its 5yr 100K power train and 3 yr/36K bumper to bumper on a new vehicles 2007 models and beyond. What I want to know is that if those warranty transfer if I buy it used?

    They say it does, and a couple boards post google seem to suggest it too, but I wanna know if anybody else have had this experience.

    From what I've seen it's transferable. Given that what's the point of buying a certified used post 2007 GM car if you can get a non certified a little cheaper? Since the warranty is still there?

    Yep. Then it does.

    Well, for example... I once bought a used "Certified" Chevy Astro with 22,000 miles on it... it still had a warranty up to 36,000 miles... When I sold it at 65,000 miles the warranty was long gone.

    I bought a Ford F-150 with 4 miles on it... Drove until it has 32,000 miles on it, and I had bought an extended 100,000 mile warranty... When I sold it, it was still under the factory coverage... and since I had not used the extended (third party) warranty, I cashed in the prorated unused portion and got about $1000 bucks back... So in essence the next owner had 4,000 miles left to see if they wanted to but and extended warranty past the factory one...

    But some extended warranties are only available upon new purchase, and other may be bought third party. I went third party when buying new, so I could get a refund if I traded.


    So, yes the factory portion of the warranty will transfer... Always has for me.


    My latest vehicle's warranty transferred when I bought it. I bought it with 13,000... and have up to 36,000.
