Did the failure of two of our more recent superstars in TMAC and Yao detract other big names from considering Houston as a possible destination?? What has happened to our city on a national scene??? We have turned into the city of Toronto...

    False and False.

Using Yao and Tmac are horrible examples. Yao was drafted by the Rockets and Tracy was traded for.

It's not like they were free agents.

Houston is the 4th largest city in America. We're much bigger than the OKC, Salt Lake Cities, and San Antonios.

How does that happen to one of the largest metropolitans in the US...Even Dallas is more popular for athletes...

    Yeah I think it does.

Morey and the way he OPENLY treats his players and their contract situation has to be noticed around the league.

I think they view the organization as frugal or even cheap.

As for the city, it is a nice place to live, good weather - nice areas and amenities - but it is also viewed as a red neck oil town, and not exactly the glitter areas that are Miami, NY, and LA.

    Cuban?
We got Les... and the way we are not willing to play all rookies....not landing at the top of lottery in a decade
We need a superstar, or at least star to attract others these days

Yao attracted Mac in a way... and they attracted World Peace a little past his prime but still good

It is far from even being considered redneck oil town...there are more Latinos in the city of houston (infact i think their a majority now...)

We are still big market team. Superstars just dont know about Houston well. The history tell if superstars play here in Houston, they stay here when they retire. We have the big tv market.

With Dallas...Cuban is the only reason players even consider going there...he puts an arm and a leg for his team...and really does care...

I was shocked to hear that Camby wanted to come here(as his home is here in houston) but really i dont hear that often amongst the NBA elite...TMAC i think still lives in sugarland...I just dont get it...

It's not the city. Tons of athletes have homes here. Shaq has a home. The real estate is cheap and the tax situation is great.

Which "Stars"? I believe each case is different. Melo left cause he's from NYC, Kevin Durant stayed in OKC cause he's comfortable there.

I say for not grabbing top free agents, it's because of management.

Have you been to the other cities in the NBA?

When Al Jefferson becomes a free agent? If he becomes a free agent, he could join Rockets because he knows McHale well.

Not many special talented athletes consider Houston in their primes.....
We still attract solid players or specialists like Dalembert or Camby........ mostly we get them past their 30s.

it's all about the winning. There was a recent survey of hockey players -- and the number one most desirable city was.....Detroit!

Quite a few live in Houston in the offseason, no? The city doesn't matter so much during the season. They're busy with games, travel and...practice. Yes...we talkin bout practice.

No..A lot of athletes love to live in Houston and it's a pretty big market so it's not that Houston is a bad place to be.

I think it just has to do with the fact that we haven't been a "great" franchise for a couple of years. We've been pretty average and lack a star. When McGrady came over, he came to play with Yao. I'm on the side that says a lot of stars want to win. And stars today think that teaming up with another great player is the best way to win. It's not like Dallas is a fantastic place to live compared to Houston. But they have the talent and an owner that is set on winning and taking risks.

Les is a great owner and Morey a great GM. But nixed trades and not getting high draft picks have set the Rockets back. A lack of a star ultimately makes Houston look very unattractive to other stars.

Maybe the owner, maybe the GM, maybe the team itself, maybe none of their buddies are here, could be a wide range of things. ;)

    This.
The fact that we last won a round in the playoffs in 15 years spoke volumes.
3 years without playoffs in a row does not help.
Also those guys know that Yao and Tmac were made of glass.

I hope Rockets can draft potential superstar this year in order to attract other big name superstar through free agency or trade. Houston is a great place for NBA superstars and I believe McHale is the right coach because he is a hall of famer and won nba championships with boston so he could attract big name stars.
