I guess that puts the Lakers & 20 other teams in the same boat...

Rockets taking on Artest reeks of desperation

Bob Cook doesn't actually believe that. His job is to write opinion articles, and opinion columnists frequently fabricate their opions for more material and thus more $$$.

    .....

i could understand being desperate if we gave up A LOT for just artest...but we didnt. i wouldn't hardly say this was a desperate move. it was a SMART move.

Boob ****'s story reeks of desperation. "Desperate times call for desperate measures." Man what a tool.

The Rockets are getting so much love this type of article was bound to surface. Desperation doesn't come to mind with this trade at all.

Even if it is a desperate move,so what? The bottom line is that we have to win.
I call it a calculated gamble which can pay off.

People can try to spin this anyway they want. The simple answer is "NO". The Rockets want to win. Les Alexander is known for not being scared of making big deals go down (see, Barkley, Drexler, Pippen and Tracy). Was Boston desperate? the Suns?, Lakers? Just a bunch of haters, doing want they do best hating. Go Les! Go Morey! Go Rockets!!!!!!

Was Boston desperate when they traded to get Garnett... and gave up half their team?

Were the Lakers desperate when they acquired Gasol?

They are attempting to do what other teams are trying to do... get enough talent to win a championship. If that makes them desperate then the other teams in the NBA should be desperate too.

Desperate? This isn't desperate. There are other teams out there who made much more "desperate" moves that cost them dearly.

    See Suns, Phoenix.

    or Mavericks, Dallas.

We didn't give up a package involving key components of our currently successful DNA...we gave up two potentials and an expiring contract. What is "desperate" about that?

Hahaha, yeah, you have to be real desperate to trade Bobby freaking Jackson for a Ron Artest on an expiring contract...

Classic case of making something out of nothing.

Who's desperate here? When would these idiots quit?

    LMAO

Since when is giving up a bag of chips and some unproven talent with poor shot selection to get an All-Star, defense machine who brings some toughness to a squad of milk drinkers desperate?

Worse case scenario is the Rockets get rid of Artest once he acts up. At that point they are still last year's team but with a better Scola and another year under Adelman.

I'm really getting sick of these writers trying to make the deal not sound good for us.

So freaking what if we are a bit desperate.

Everyone in the WC is getting better - and has done for years.

With all the money involved in pro sports, I kinda thought EVERY team should be desperate to improve.

This article was an act of desperation by a writer who was desperate to keep his job. It's been made pretty clear to me that the only people who hate the trade are haters, in one capacity or another. There is honestly no logical explanation as to why this move isn't a good one. All of the reasons that have been stated are completely cancelled out by the fact that he is only signed for one more year.
