He's really struggling offensively compared to when he was a 6th man for the rockets. He's not a good rebounder at all for PF, at least defensive rebound wise.
Westphal coddles Reke Evans and allows him to pull the trigger as he pleases... ball hog is an understatement. Landry used to massacre second units as a Rocket, but he was the primary option when he was on the floor. Who would replace him in the starting 5? Cousins is a center, and I don't know if he can coexist with Dalembert in the paint. Thompson's having a down year, and seems to have fallen out of favor with the coaching staff.
Well, he hasn't been the go-to guy for that team. Consider Houston he was our go-to guy off the bench. In Sacramento Tyreke takes that main role, Carl isn't really a 2nd or 3rd option anymore either.
Carl will give you the same production whether he's starting or coming off the bench....ala Rasheed Wallace........so I would have him come off the bench..he'll get more plays called for him that way
He's played 265 minutes so far this year and doesn't have a block. How is that even possible? Seems like if he just closed his eyes and swatted randomly he'd gotten one by now. But maybe that's how he got one of his four steals. He's also grabbing a defensive rebound every 11+ minutes this year. Scola is at about 4.5 minutes. #wetradedtherightpowerforward
Landry, one of my favorite Rockets. I would have liked to see him in a line up like this: Hill Landry Bud Lee Ish Not a whole lot of defense but, that would be fun to watch against a team like the Knicks!
Landry's usage rate there is higher than it was on the Rockets. It's just a slow start. Probably tough to gel with Cousins, and Tyreke is a chucker.
With Yao down, Scola should be snagging boards at will. He's our primary rebounding option... the Kings have Dalembert, a rebounding machine. Casspi at 6'9'' gets his fair share, and Evans is one of the best rebounding PGs in the NBA. Scola's surrounded by Brad Miller, Kevin Martin, Ish Smith, and Shane Battier (none of whom are strong on the glass). It makes sense that Scola's snagging many more boards than Landry based on our current situation. I do agree that Scola's the superior PF, but those rebounding #s are misleading.
Exactly. Playing with two divas in tyreke and cousins. We should pick him up in free agency. Hell, he took a bullet for the rockets!
Carl Landry will always be an efficient player when given a moderate amount of minutes. He would flat out beast his way when he was playing 18 minutes per game for us. He loses his effectiveness when you give him more minutes and force him to be a focal point of the offense and expect him to clean the boards. Its not really his game. He's more of a "I forgot he was on the court" type player, which allows him to find open spots on the court. Playing against starters which are more likely to be better defensive players and are more likely to pack the paint also reduces Landry's effectiveness. I love Landry as a player because he plays with heart but he's priced himself out of our range for a backup power forward imo. Plus I really think Patrick Patterson is a Landry-type forward anyways and we have control over him for at least 5 years.
