Every single interview is the same, with JVG essentially blaming the players: "To sit here and say there were positives tonight, there weren't. I'm disappointed in how we're playing. The only thing that I feel has been beneficial so far has been when you're not going good, you get told a lot about the players on your team and what it's made up of, if it's a solid foundation or if it's not as strong as you would like it to be." It's like a CEO blaming his employees for the company's bad performance - every single day. Can you imagine what that would do to a company? See ya. When a CEO says he/she is wrong and shows humility and responsibility, about anything, that actually energizes the workforce and motivates them significantly. It's the mark of a true leader, and one that is admired and respected. I mean, I just don't ever remember any quotes from Van Gundy taking some of the blame for the team's consistently poor play, like other highly respectable coaches do. Anyone know of any? I'd feel a lot better to hear some.
First of all, what "highly respectable" coaches take the blame all the time? I remember him blaming himself quite a few times. Maybe someone can dig out the quotes. But, yeah, by far his most common reason for losing is effort. As a coach, what else can he say other than demand the effort from his players.
Actually, I recall numerous times when JVG has said, "The team isn't playing with energy and that's on the coach." He is one of the more self-depricating coaches in the league.
Ive heard JVG say numerous times that its his fault. In fact, moreso than any other coach that I remember.
